I know you probably don't have time to answer so I will open this up for everyone, now is ok that after I wash my hair I blow dry it? I wear latch hook styles so I keep my french braided....I really l like my hair to be dry when I french braid my hair for my latch hooks...I like my weaves but I try to keep them as "afrocentric" as possible...lol and thanks for the videos....simply wonderful
my hair is finally long enough to achieve this style! lol! Have the 5" banana clips been restocked yet? i know the restocking date was 11/24 but I'm about to make a purchase so i wanted to make sure.
i just started watching your videos just yesterday and i'm unsure of whether you posted this or not, but how do you moisturize your hair regularly? do you moisturize everyday? if so, with what? is it the leave in conditioner? thanks!
when you put your hair in this style....at night do you put a scraf over it and sleep....or do you take out the bobby pens and claps.......then put on your scaf......if you leave it pin up .....for how many days...
um by using ur hair videos and ur hair advice my hair is hip legnth and i am african american. soo thxzz u. i loove u and u mae my day so wonderful i feel more confident then ever
Hi Kimmay, I love your viedos they are very relaxing and informative. I made your Kimmay leave in conditioner, and I use it on my hair after I wash it, and I also wet my hair every night, and put it on my hair. I'm sorry if I don't understand, but ..... is it ok to use the kimmay leave in conditioner on my hair every day, or just when I wash it on clean hair...thank you for your input, and your lovely videos!! :)
What do you use to hold the twist? Is ors twist and lock gel good or no? I'm currently transitioning so i still have relaxed hair. My twist don't look as good, any tips for me? I also have thinning edges and bald spots (that are getting better) but i need something to kinda boost the growth there. Thanks in advance! Also I really love your videos, they are very informing and educational.
Very nice! I never thought to use a banana clip in my twists like that, but I will be looking for some good ones now. Very elegant, very professional... thank you for doing this!
Good day Kimmay. I am thankful for your experiences that you have shared with us youtubers. I am wondering if you do anything differently during the winter months to protect your hair. I work and live in the DC area. This will be my second winter season natural (first with my hair not in extensions). Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Thank you Kimmay for your amazing vids. I am just starting (literally 5 wks from last relaxer) to transition and I am enjoying learning so much from you and the books I am reading. Please keep up the good work and know that you are empowering us by sharing your knowledge, expertise, and experience thus far.
Hi Kimmay I like to use Olive Oil spray sheen over my hair..Plus I have to use Jam's shining gel because my hair is very thick and I use it along with my shea butter creme. The shining gel helps keep the twists together at the end and make them tighter ( I like them tighter :-) ) Do you think that's adding to much product to my hair?
I want to do protective styles, but I have VERY fine hair. Most of the protective styles I have tried: braidout, twist, coils etc never seem to turn out right. They tend to look awful when finished. I am at a loss as to what I should do? I want to do protective styles to help retain my length and aid in the growing process, but they just look awful when done. If you have any suggestions for me, that would be greatly appreciated.
You know another way to twist your hair so that it stays neater is by plaiting the roots then twisting it. This way it does not mess up as fast. That's how I do mines. It's really helpful.
oh WOW, you're gorgeous! I'm glad I found you! I just started wearing my hair out outside of weaves so I'm glad to find so much information about it from women like you!
let me just say that you fill a noticeable void in the natural hair phenomena sweeping our time: that of afro-textured (or 4abc hair). By respecting the nature and sensitivity of our texture, you have achieved aspiring lengths without the health of your hair paying the price. i watch your videos mostly for the encouragement that patience, research, and quality care does go a long way!
I love that you have not dyed your hair. I am 30 years old and I have a little gray at the front of my hair and I get so much slack for it but now that I've seen you, I will learn to embrace my gray. Thanks Kim!
Kim, I credit this protective style and your tips with allowing me to “retain my hair growth” to a little bit beyond bra strap length from a little below shoulder length in less than five months. I have been natural for almost four years and now I'm seeing more growth with your techniques than I did in the 3 years prior. Thank you so much for your hard work! You are making a large contribution to a natural -revolution! :-)
I am new to your channel and i am already hooked...i have been searching and i think that my search has ended......your videos are just awesome!!!! i only started a week ago and my hair is loving your techniques...FROM THE HEART THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!!!!!
Hi Kimmaytube...I love all you advice you are so informative. I notice on my hair, like your that fuzzieness at the crown of your hairm especially with the hair in a braid or twist style. Is that normal? I was thinking that frizz may be damaged hair and wondered if there was a way to tame?
ur a very pretty lady. thanks for the tutorital. I like the last set of bands that you used on your hair. will look out for something like them when I go shopping.
Thank you so much Kimmay for breaking down exactly how to moisturize!:D This was 1 of my biggest questions because I always saw ambiguity, some just used oil on dry hair or lotions on dry hair. I did the dry oil thing but noticed it wasn't "moisturized" as I know it should be. This makes perfect sense and I do it and it works!
Dont you have to be careful with hard water from the faucet? When I was living in Texas the water was hard you could see the white residue from my black frig where I had the water and Ice area. I was told that the water was hard when I lived overseas. Won't hard water take your hair out, will it dry your hair out?
Your videos are wonderful! I just received the two-tone elastics. How cute and feminine. More protective styles and flowers for the hair, please. Thanks!
Nice length!!!! I can see the difference for sure. Kim, how long does it usually take you to finish editing a video, not including the time it takes to record it.
I feel so inspired. I've watched about 5 of your videos today. I did the big chop in May '06. I have length and I usually just wear it curly (wash and go, in a ponytail).
So, I haven't been huge on product (gel and a olive oil grease), but my hair is dry. I am so inspired though to try to make sure its healthy. I didnt know that hair should be washed in sections- its been so hard to wash at once.
I just did this style today and it looks great! I usually shy away from protective styles because they never look good on me, but I think this one is a winner!
This video is wonderful! I love this protective style...so simple, yet so effective! I usually wear my hair in two-strand twists but don't do much with them. I had a question...after you moisturize your hair with water, what kind of leave-in do you use? How often do you moisturize your hair, btw?
I really like this video and the style, but I'm wondering what you can do when your twists aren't long enough to make a ponytail that you can pin under? Its kind of like a catch 22. I'm waiting for my hair to get long enough to do this style, but I need to retain length to get there!
I exercise everyday and my hair gets wet. I have ear-length hair and I wear twists as a protective style. Do you think I should rinse my hair every other day to free it from the sweat/salt from sweat and apply a leave-in conditioner or moisturizer? : )
Kimmay, you definately know what you are doing, but why not gently blot your damp hair with a heavy gauge T shirt? They are absorbent and much kinder to the hair.
Keep those informative vids coming!

Kim, thanks for this video! This is the ONLY resource I've found so far on what to do AFTER you install twists. Can you tell me what is in your homemade leave-in conditioner? I'm trying to find something that won't gunk up my hair but will be a great sealant. How often do you spritz with water & seal when you have twists in? TIA!!

I watch your videos two, three and sometimes four times and rate each time because its incredibly evident how much work and effort goes into making them. I've followed your hair care regimens and am bosting lots of length and health. Thanks for sharing with us!
I have a question I have definitely heard how many times you have stressed the use of protective styles to retain length. I am taking your advice and trying to keep my hair protected. However my hair is about chin length and I have been putting it in two strand twists with my own hair weekly. Is that still a protective style even though I am not able to tuck my ends in?
I notice that you are using just plain water in this video. Is there any reason that you are not using the water with vegetable glycerine? Love your videos so informative. You are my natural hair Idol.
Vegetable Glycerin works well in the summer when the air is humid, but I don't use it in the colder winter months. It has a reputation of potentially drying out the hair
There are currently two 5" banana clips in stock right now. I won't have more of either size until my next shipment arrives within the next 10-14 days.
I really love this video on protective styles!! I'm gonna try this one :-D Can't wait for the other protective styles vids and to buy accessories from your website :-D
I love your videos! Thanks so much for sharing your great styling tips! You have no idea how much you've helped me on my natural journey! God bless you and keep up the great work!!!
OMG!!! i use the banana clips alot i use to get them from a big store all the time they stop carrying:( but i am so happy u have them now i was so excited i order 2 packs of both of them and more love the site!
Great! It's so layed-back but still professional enough. I love it. I love ALL of your work. That's exactly what it is because you put so much time and all the effort that goes into your videos.
Wow! I have to say, at first I didn't expect it to come out nice with the older twist and all, but once you finished accessorizing it, it came out very neat and professional looking.
I tried this hair style this evening. I hope it looks good for work in the morning. LOL! I purchased a couple items from your website. Keep up the AWESOME work and I wish you much SUCCESS! :)
Thank you Thank you Thank you... I am definitely going to try this protective style, next time I do two-strand twists. I'm so bad at doing protective styles.
I like the video and your jewelry! I appreciate the protective style using your own hair! when some use weave it sort of goes against the "be nappy,be happy", and the "love what God gave you" premice. Good Job, your hair is beautiful!
OK I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!! lol. i love all your videos lol. But seriously i am so impressed. And your hair is ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS. i can't wait to get length like that... so beautiful!!!
*big hugs*

PS. Thank you for subbing me the other day! That really means a lot :-)
Congratulations! Just made a purchase, are some things already sold out already or just not available, more specifically the embroidered headbands. I need those, please let me know when you get more! Thanks. Congratulations again!

Thanks so much!

I notice that you are using just plain water in this video. Is there any reason that you are not using the water with vegetable glycerine? Love your videos so informative. You are my natural hair Idol.

@chatchickchat
Vegetable Glycerin works well in the summer when the air is humid, but I don't use it in the colder winter months. It has a reputation of potentially drying out the hair
when the air is less humid.

@kimmaytube thanks for the quick reply. I reside in Southern Cal, so I guess I am fine to keep on using VG on my hair? Thanks again.

@kimmaytube so, vegetable glycerin isn't good if you live in colder countries then? Because I live in England

@hopeday1
There are currently two 5" banana clips in stock right now. I won't have more of either size until my next shipment arrives within the next 10-14 days.

I can't get those goody hair pins to hold my hair. The pins get pent out of shape or just don't hold. Any suggestions/tips?

Wow! I have to say, at first I didn't expect it to come out nice with the older twist and all, but once you finished accessorizing it, it came out very neat and professional looking.
Great job!

I like the video and your jewelry! I appreciate the protective style using your own hair! when some use weave it sort of goes against the "be nappy,be happy", and the "love what God gave you" premice. Good Job, your hair is beautiful!
