  • To those wondering "Why didn't you get closer, man?" "Why didn't you zoom in, dude??"

One, there was a police tape in place and a guy with a gun enforcing it, so, being a man of common sense, I stayed where I was suppose to, it being private property I was standing on already.

  • Secondly, the camera batteries were just about dead by the time the shark showed-up and hitting the zoom would shut it down immediately. I'm still amazed at what I was able to catch, because the camera died for good just at the tail-end of that fin-splashing scene. I wasn't sure any of that craziness was saved to the disk until we got home.

  • that thing is huge

  • I would never swim in that pond ever again!.....regardless if the shark wasn't seen in the pond for a while after..............

  • I'll catch yer shark for ye

  • shut up guys she was only there for the wine tasting

  • MAN THE HARPOONS!!!!!!!!

  • you've got a camcorder recording a shark from about 100 ft away yet you could walked half the distance to the beach or bridge and get a close up. Fail.

  • @Dislike2011 out

  • Man, if I lived there I would TOTALLY be standing on that bridge throwing the shark food.

  • What was that scene in Jaws where the woman is screaming about a shark in the pond? It almost looks like the same place.

  • @ihasch Jaws was filmed at Marthas Vineyard and a couple miles out also.

  • Great shot actually, at first I wasn't sure. Awesome that you were there

  • @burlapdog - from one jaws/shark fan to another, congratulations man. thats like hitting the lottery or something. that pond was nice and clear (sad that you couldnt get closer but theres pictures on the net and they were right to keep them back not to stress her) and the irony of it. just too great. very nice work.

  • Butt crack @ :20.

  • It was a pretty impressive shark. I ran over from the Vineyard to see it. It was no Bruce... But it was more than I'd want to swim with...

  • I think this video is incredible, it looks huge, the distance when it turned between the dorsal and tail fin had to be10ft, I can't understand why there is confusion about the species, surely an incident like this was televised and the fact that the coast guard were there would surely have confirmed the species. Can I ask how it got out, i'm assuming it was stuck due to low tide?

  • Wow , that was awesome , I wish i could have been there to see it. I love the jaws theme you added, nice touch. What a big creature.

  • oh wow, i picked the wrong island to live on i guess -_- this is too cool!

  • as americans, are we free to jump in and go swimming with it, while in the moment?

  • I Live in NH! And We have a house in Edgartown! WBU?! We were attack by a shark on South Beach in 2009!

  • I Live in NH! And We have a house in Edgartown! WBU?!

  • lol why are there so many thumbs down for this? it's cool

  • that is absolutely surreall. crazy shit

That's awesome, I can't believe that, I wish I coulda been there. it legit is totall right outa jaws

  • that was awesome that must be a huge shark up close

  • thts way bigger than 13ft.

  • Where's Quint when you need him?

  • Nice video !

  • if it wasnt for the shark finning itself i would have said bull shark

  • i bet the shark was thinking shit y is every1 looking at me, dam the 1 day i forgot to brush my teeth

  • @BurlapDog if its a salt water pond its more likly to be a bull shark caues great whites cant go rivers and rivers lead to salt water ponds so yeah.........

  • if that really is a great white then that is amazing! so glad you got that footage for us to see.

  • MOMMY LOOK, A DOLPHIN! *Runs toward water*

  • @PtheSgamers3 yeah dude thats a shark, not a big fish. and its a video bro, dont be stupid.

  • Are there any more videos of this, as i dont find this video very good.

  • That is awesome man, truly jealous!

  • the size of the fin and distance between tail and dorsal .thts a lot bigger than 14ft...alot bigger.

  • fuck it, if i were to get arrested it would be for getting close to a shark, now thats something to tell people what u in for and why u got arrested, don't be such a puss, it's only a small fine and a couple hrs in jail, well worth it for bragging rights to the ladies.

  • Comment removed

  • @iluvfatchx if it were a Tiger Shark it would have had stripes, and a more rounded nose. This is a Great White, the only sharks that look similar in appearance are Mako Sharks, and they don't grow nearly as big as Great Whites. Plus, they have a more pointed nose (aka bullet shaped).

  • @mrbcargirl i meant bullshark, how could it be a great white if its freshwater

  • @iluvfatchx ...i saw this on the news jackass... and it was verified that it was a great white...know your facts before you speak...idiot.

  • @crispedskydiver what new jackass, ive seen them all and never heard them verify shit

  • That had to be awesome. I wish I could have seen that. Such a great creature.

  • that shit is scary,is this were u live at

  • Bull Shark ( Requin Bulldog in French)

  • I think mans deepest fear has risen again

  • guys I think that Jaws has rose again.

  • Jeez, That's not a small shark either

  • Song is perfect for shark vids

  • i bet thats them to kids out of the movie with the fin attached to their backs!

  • haa how very funny when you watch a video and see yourself and your father standing right there in the middle of the screen 0:50 good video post!!

  • I just moved to the Vineyard last year. Should I be afraid of the water? Maybe I better not watch JAWS right now or I will never go in.

  • Of course, it was released as part of the festival.

  • DO NOT GO IN THE WATER EVER...OR ACCEPT BEING PRAYED UPON.

  • I GO TO JUMP OFF THE BRIGE YOU SEE I HOPE NO SHARKS THERE WHEN I GO BACK

  • One word. Thatsharklookshungry

  • probably some kids with a wooden fin attached to them

  • @Ubermann88HH right and kids also made the perfect spalsh and look of the side of a shark when it flopped....and they had cops and tape because no one could tell it was kids in that 3 foot of water....jackass

  • That shark was a bit belated trying to make it to the Jawsfest

  • wow massive shark whoa

  • wow that shark was massive!?!?!?!?

  • lol Steven Spielberg jinxed them

  • thats not the only timed thats happened. happens in swamps all the time. i thought it was going to jump on that boat and sink it!

  • @unrelenting9374 im glad nobody logged on tp this video and started calling it a bull shark, theres a video of a confirmed white trapped in a swamp in ma. the ammount of dpes saying it is a bull shark is unreal.

  • That is way cool. I'm in the contemplation of moving to Martha's Vineyard. I'm a JAWS fanatic and I used to summer there as a kid. This is really whetting my appetite!!

  • beautiful creature, must have been awesome to be able to see it up close. as for the shark itself, did it turn out to be sick or something? really wierd that it would end up in a spot like that.

  • thats awesome i grew up on the outer banks and only recall one big white shark being in inside waters two thumbs up

  • FAKE!!!!

  • @patoplush no idiot, it's real. It was all over the news

  • It was a thirteen footer. Female.

And that's as close as we could get withoutbeing arrested, as the others on the other side of the yellow tape were island residents, or friends of theirs. My camera could not zoom-in because of low battery power, but I'm happy with what we got. It was a memorable experience, to say the least.

  • arrested for what?

  • @th1ngf1sh

The spot is private property, owned by the Forbes family, and, on top of that, authorities were limiting the number of people who could get up close so as not to endanger the shark (or themselves!). The fact that some moron threw something at it from off the bridge in the closing seconds of the video is proof that the authorities were right in keeping people back.

  • @BurlapDog yeah good point, awesome expeirence though! would love to have gone out there on my kayak and seen it......not!

  • @BurlapDog ya my family owns that island and Nashawena Island :D

  • @BurlapDog i have a house in mashpee and just last week the news said the whites were back..on the beaches anyway..thats very cool

  • @BurlapDog

Nice footage. But that shark is longer than 13 feet based on the distance between the dorsal fin and the tail.

  • did they ever determine how big it was

  • someone shoulda got closer to the water than that! I sure would have....

  • You first.

  • Paid a Coast Guard cutter?

  • anyone fancy a swimming race?

  • great lol gotta love the jaws music

  • What a trip!

  • music make the video better

  • HOLY CRAP

  • thats cool

  • Youre gonna need a bigger boat!

  • ild create walking on water if i saw that underneath me

  • I wish i could see a great white (Not in the water though)

  • goodpost ...film maker in the makeing

  • The shark read to much about Columbus, huh? Trying to exterminate the "native" small fishies!

  • This reminds me of the scene in the movie, when the shark enters the pond and only a young girl realise whats going on. I really like the contrast that a predator of that size entered a small and relatively shallow pond. I wish I ever see a great white shark (while I'm not in the water). Thank you for posting!

  • HOLY CRAP!! That is both awesome and terrifying!!! Can you imagine just sitting in the drink there, floating on your noodle with the beverage of your choice, and seeing that killing machine cruise underneath you. I would likin the probability of that occurring to that of getting attacked by a barricuda in my bath tub, and therefore would poop my pants. Once in a life-time, you are lucky!!

  • that a bloody big shark! look at the finn

  • Jaws is my favorite movie of all time, and, the most remarkable thing about this video is how the shark's dorsal and tail fin disappear below the water at the end of the video. If Spielberg, Gottlieb, and Benchley saw this video they would probably feel like kids again knowing that the shot of the shark entering the pond was nearly identical to this video... which was the first thing I thought upon seeing this video.

  • oh my god

    JAWS 5

  • Any idea of its size? Just by looking at this video I would estimate over 14 feet.

  • woah, what if you were like swimming in there O.O

The sharks pretty big too, nice work!

  • you get a line, I'll get a pole, we'll go fishin' in the white shark hole?

  • That was FREAKY! I got nervous just by watching how big it was!!

  • i wuda pissed my pants if i evr saw tht

  • WOW thats amazing

  • wow that was to cool

  • That would have been so wild to see.

  • Ahr man thats awsome, A massive Jaws Nut myself, your so lucky to have got that & so close to the location where the movie was filmed! Cool vid dude!

  • Thanks.

I only wish I could've zoomed in on it, but the batteries in the camera were nearly dead, so . . .

I'm glad I got as much as I did before it did eventually die, just after the incredible shot at the end. (the camera died, not the shark)

Some idiot had thrown something from the bridge into the water at the shark, and that is why you see the Coast Gaurd boat responding.

It was just after this incident that the area was closed off to unauthorized boats.

  • @BurlapDog WOW. I've seen a lotta fake stuff on the net but there's no fakin THAT! Unlike just about everybody else on youtube, i'm not an expert on sharks but i'm guessin something like that's gotta be EXTREMELY rare huh?!?! I live in south Louisiana (10 min from N.O.) and we occasionally get bull sharks in the mississippi but nothin like that! great video bro. I'm sure it's somethin the family will always remember too! =D

  • @BurlapDog.. COOL STUFF LOVE JAWS...

  • was that shallow water? becuase usually big sharks dont often go into shallow waters, also depending on what kind of shark...but that one really was HUGE.

  • The pond itself was probably ten to fifteen deep, but the surrounding water was very shallow, less than five feet! Amazing how it found itself in there. Probably going full throttle after a seal.

  • Should of got someone to go swimming(not yourself of course), maybe the kid that has been most annoying, then you could of made your own Jaws Movie

  • Your kids seem great. What a cool family trip. I must be amazing to see this from shore.

  • THAT WAS HUGE

  • thats sick, cool as big as shark

    ahaha

  • It isn't Martha's Vineyard, it was down in a cove in Wood's Hole, four years ago. I'm a cape resident- this was a huge deal for about a week here. It's all the papers were covering. The fourteen foot white got stuck in the inlet and stayed for over a week. I went and saw it- it scared the hell outta me. HUGE.

  • Correct. specifically, it was located in the Elizabeth Islands, which is between Woods Hole and Martha's Vineyard. I put "Martha's Vineyard Area" in the title because a lot of people associate the Vineyard with JAWS and the shark was indeed a stones throw from Edgartown and the estuary in the movie.

Now there are FIVE Great Whites swimming around the Cape! How cool is that?!!

  • that would be awsome to see in real life! (from lans of course) how did it get back out?

  • wow it looks pretty big too

  • Comment removed

  • Too bad fat Teddy wasn't out for a swim on this fine afternoon....

  • learn to use the zoom in button!!!

  • wow could this cameraperson BE any further away.. i can see a splashing and thats about it.. move closer next time..

  • damn i wish i was there to see that :( still cool anyway.

  • "It's going into the pond!"

  • LOL...silliness.

  • Hmmm, you need a bigger boat.

  • well i be damned! coast guard and everything...right out of the movie!

  • would be funny if you heard '' hook me up another barrel '' then quint fires a yellow barrel into it haha

  • FAKE

  • No its real I was there. Like he said, it stayed for a week. Remote-controlled mechanical sharks today usually last around 50 hours before it breakes down.

  • its real i saw it on the news a while back. theres a booming seal population in new england so the shark sightings have gone way up. many great whites hav been spotted there including a couple this year.

  • "Farewell and adieu to you fair Spanish ladies....!"

  • Here's to swimmin' with bow-legged women! ;)

  • umm a great white would die in there. they are not good at traveling into more freshwater type areas. are u sure its not a bull shark? they can go into almost pure freshwater. they are the usual suspects for river attacks.

  • marthas vineyard area is salt water. This isn't freshwater.

  • is this for real ?

  • That shark was a little, lost and confused in an inlet at Woods Hole, several years ago. Notice the small Coast Guard boats, patrolling.

  • thats well good, was this part of Martha's Vineyard in the film?,

i got to go there, last time i was in america i was in new york, i didnt know it was close to this place , DAMN i should of gone, im a jaws nut 2...

  • The shark was coaxed out to sea with the aid of several boats and powerful water hoses. It was tagged for observation, but the tag fell off shortly after she left the inlet, so...where she is now, nobody knows.

  • ????????????

  • What happened to the shark please?

  • HOOPER!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sh-Shhh--Shhhaaark.. Shark.. Theres a shark in the pond

  • wow thats incredible. being a JAWS fanatic myself, i would have LOVED to have seen that.

  • Hey Burlapdog, I think you're gonna need a bigger boat.

  • I never said GWs often swim upstream. Bull sharks are acclaimed for this. BUT, the shark that killed those people, in that instance, was a GW. Look it up. It was a rogue shark.

  • Are you talking about the 1916 incident in New Jersey? There is no consensus for what happened, several atacks, at sea AND upriver. A small great white was caught with supposedly human remains in its belly, but no scientists believe that it is proof of anything, after all, in 1916 it would have been very difficult to accurately identify human remains in a shark. It is unknown if it was one shark, more, or if all of The attacks were shark attacks. The river attacks were very likely a bull shark.

  • u r right but its been proven GW has the same salt sacs as bulls so it is posible for a GW to do it

  • You may speculate all you like. I guess Sea Turtles could have been the cause as well. Yes, Sea Turtles indeed.

Maybe you don't believe it is proof to anything, but the scientists commonly believe it is the shark because after it was caught, the attacks ceased to exist in the bay.

You can sit under water for 5 minutes without air, why can't an animal designed to survive harsh conditions survive out of its element for 12 days? It's not like the shark was in there for years.

  • naushon? 1st bridge??

  • u are all retarded... IT WAS a shark in woods hole. The water is BRACKISH meaning there is a fair amount of salt in this water, and it WAS a great white... i saw it with my own 2 eyes. Not everything that impresses you is impossible... dipshits

  • The shark was a rogue Great White that swam upstream. It wasn't a "God" by any means, but it DID swim upstream. It was only in the water for 12 days, so it wasn't something completely unfathomable. It killed four people and injured a fifth. They caught the shark and scientists identified it as a GW and the remains in it's stomach as human.

  • then again, this Jawsfest couldnt be complete without a shark

  • IT SANTA

  • Either way, that is a large dorsal fin from a distance = big old great white or bull shark (probably the bull that's easily 15+ years old). However, the other video that shows a shark in a similar pond shows the shark more closely. THE THING IS HUGE AND NASTILY RESEMBLING JAWS! I've never seen anything like this and it is fucking crazy if it really happened in Massachusetts or at all.

  • Yep, that is one huge shark..

  • So you are telling me to site my sources. Yes they can survive if fresh water for a short time, if you still disagree with me you telling me that the second a white enters freshwater they die immediately.

  • heh, do you know the story about the white pup that got lost and swam up the east coast and killed a few people? Its a true story..there are many articles and books written about it..and then they movie BASED on some of those events that took place. That movie is called JAWS. If you have a hard time believing what I have posted reply back and I will site my sources.

  • This is true.

  • Actually I believe this was a great white that swam up a tributary near Woods Hole on Cape Cod a few years ago. It stuck around for more than a week and was believed to have possibly been ill. anyway he swam away on his own. Businesses in that area received calls from all over the country who wanted to send tours. Believe it or not, the Gulf of Maine has one of the largest concentrations of Great Whites but are way out in deep water ("large" still being a small number).

  • fuck you assholes talk so much shit , no one believes your fucking stories! aw man thats nothin' I'VE SEEN...........BULLSHIT YOU SEEN FUCK ALL!!

Nice vid man scary shit,, it looks like a quiet little swimming hole

  • Uhhh Dude.... why didn't you zoom in? bet a a bigger JAWS fan/Nutr then you!! :0P

  • Holy santa clause shit

  • Ive had enormous great whites swim right under my surf board Im sure it because I saw an enormous shadow lurking below. The scariest thing Ive ever encountered in my life, but at the same time they dont want to eat you... They get confused and think youre a seal. I swear I had an 18 footer follow me in at Ocean Beach, Ca one day and I thought it was two sharks b/c there were 2 fins (it was the way they moved) , but it was one enormous white shark!!!!

  • whatever ya fuckin baglicker, nice fuckin story, tell the truth, you were sucking cock

  • maybe he was doing both. sharks have cocks too.

  • +100 for you my friend

  • sharks dont kill people rappers do! I saw it on a documentry on bbc 2

  • you sir are a fucking winner.

  • did the sharks tell u that mate?

  • open a book its a fact.
