I typed "5 inch soft roll casters" into Google search and hoped I could find some pictures or videos to show what they look like and how they work. Somehow this video was 5th on the list of search results. This was a complete waste of time...I don't know if you did this for a school film project or whatever nonsense it was meant for but it was a complete waste of time.
Hi Andy, this video was done to introduce the very basics to people mainly new users. It so turns out I use and depend on soft roll caater wheels of the five inch type on my wheelchair. You got me about how on earth its listed with anything caster related in the area you seek info on. I tell you what, I will make a video expressly covering these very caster wheels you seek info on. I should be done with it soon, and post it for you.
Also Thanks for posting what info you did seek. :)
Thanks. Sorry if I was overly rude but I was doing a lot of researched on wheelchair parts because I needed to buy a new one right away and I was just really stressed out. I don't need a video anymore because I bought a new chair but some other people could probably use it so it would be a good idea to make one. Take care.
@andyrooney11 hey, been in that spot myself many times my friend. many times. I figured as much as felt why get upset if my info was in the wrong spot. It was great to see more info is needed. So I took this as the chance to produce some more content. I can't get the video to upload to YouTube but it is on my BlogTV page AbiliTV down under the large Playground field you will see a wheel in the thumbnail... This is for other people now since you are rolling again. Good to hear man!
am looking for a how to having found myself in one of these contraptions. very arty but where is the information? how are you supposed to push the thing without getting blisters? thats what a newbie chair user needs to know.
Great question. I have found that the Cyclone full fingure gloves by Pearl Izume gloves cost $40.00 from their web site. Used to be sold at DICKS sporting goods, but no longer at least in my area.
If you don't use gloves your hands will get blisters and then callus over in a pretty short time.
As for the the art factor of a wheelchair, I would stick to one thing regardless of the looks, that is my comfort in it. :~)
That first wheelchair shown is the only manual wheelchair that medical insurance will cover, plus you also get to see people in motorized wheelchairs that look like they are driving around on top of a gas powered lawn mower that you push, with a seat that looks like it was from a car.
Not totally correct. Aetna, my old medical insurance covered a Ti-Lite ZRA with Spinergy Spox rear wheels, 5 inch soft roll casters, removable-swing-away-adjustable armrests, removable height adjustable carriage handles, cloth wheel guards, frame pads for the leg area, solid seat pan at 80%.
it is fully possible to get ANY medical insurance to cover what you medically need. It however IS NOT EASY to do.
@SpinergyDude Wheelie, U used to much space on my first part of the reply. :)
Powered wheelchairs (not scooters) are used by people who either no longer can use the upper limbs to self propel, and have a real need for that power. A power chair can weigh in at 250 pounds to over 400 or more. They need more care, repairs, and often times a special van to haul them place to place.
Each person's needs for a manual or power chair will be different. So different types are needed. :)
Thanks for the show of support, and I hope you never have need for one of these as well. It is an interesting thing to go from being 100% able bodied to partially disabled, to being 100% fully as I have. You just never imagine, or think of the one injury being made worse by some medical treatment meant to help it.
