the other omission is game 7 of '02. leafs win it to cap off a series in which they battled (and conquered) absurd amounts of adversity. easily top 5 material, i'd probably put it in the top 3. again, tsn really coddles to ottawa with this list, trying to make a one-sided rivalry look as evenly keeled as they could.
3rd, there are a couple of pretty mind-boggling omissions from this list. 1st is game 6 of '02, the one following ott's controversial win in game 5 (alfie/tucker). leafs go into ottawa down 3-2 in the series, w/o sundin, and about halfway through the 1st find themselves down 2-0 in the game. at that point they had no business winning that game but they made a courageous comeback and gutted it out. IMO this was the #1 moment in the BOO, but without debate it should have at least made the list.
second, alfie always made guarantees (and was wrong more than he was right), so his guarantee for game 6 in '04 was meaningless. the fact it even made the list is comical, let alone the fact it was slotted at #2. there was absolutely nothing special about that win, as ottawa had home ice in that game and in the end they lost the series - that game didn't matter. (tsn also conveniently ignores the fact that alfie didn't simply guarantee game 6, he guaranteed they'd win the series - whoops!)

first, sundin's ot winner in game 1 of '01 is way too low. that goal was THE turning point in a series that everyone picked ottawa to win in 4 or 5 games. the sens pretty much dominated the play in most of that game but they looked dead the rest of the series en route to a leafs sweep - that's how much that goal deflated them. the fact that it was an absolutely brilliant shot by sundin (just inside the blueline, off the bar and in) to break a 0-0 game in overtime just made it all the more epic.
@lchivy why? if anything this list is extremely generous to ottawa (and it is. tsn goes out of their way to try and prove to the world that they're not pro-toronto, usually to the point of being anti-toronto, but i digress). like it or not the leafs have absolutely owned this rivalry.

the other omission is game 7 of '02. leafs win it to cap off a series in which they battled (and conquered) absurd amounts of adversity. easily top 5 material, i'd probably put it in the top 3. again, tsn really coddles to ottawa with this list, trying to make a one-sided rivalry look as evenly keeled as they could.

3rd, there are a couple of pretty mind-boggling omissions from this list. 1st is game 6 of '02, the one following ott's controversial win in game 5 (alfie/tucker). leafs go into ottawa down 3-2 in the series, w/o sundin, and about halfway through the 1st find themselves down 2-0 in the game. at that point they had no business winning that game but they made a courageous comeback and gutted it out. IMO this was the #1 moment in the BOO, but without debate it should have at least made the list.

second, alfie always made guarantees (and was wrong more than he was right), so his guarantee for game 6 in '04 was meaningless. the fact it even made the list is comical, let alone the fact it was slotted at #2. there was absolutely nothing special about that win, as ottawa had home ice in that game and in the end they lost the series - that game didn't matter. (tsn also conveniently ignores the fact that alfie didn't simply guarantee game 6, he guaranteed they'd win the series - whoops!)

first, sundin's ot winner in game 1 of '01 is way too low. that goal was THE turning point in a series that everyone picked ottawa to win in 4 or 5 games. the sens pretty much dominated the play in most of that game but they looked dead the rest of the series en route to a leafs sweep - that's how much that goal deflated them. the fact that it was an absolutely brilliant shot by sundin (just inside the blueline, off the bar and in) to break a 0-0 game in overtime just made it all the more epic.

Actually, the only difference was when the new team was made in 1992, they decided to call the franchise in the early 1900's the original senators, and that if you look up online, it still says the ottawa senators as a franchise throughout the whole century and this one, has 11 stanley cups.
