Too bad group B ended before 405 t16 appears, it would be the best rally car ever and it proved so, in Pikes Peak and in the Dakar. My favourite car ever, i have a 405 td with the mi16 kit, and i love it!

It is designed to Group S, that was canceled same time Group B ended. So they used it only in desert raids and pikes peak.

Only 2 405:s were ever built for racing. One Pike's Peak version and this version, built for the Paris-Dakar rally. The 405 never competed in Group B since group B was closed down after the '86 season. It used much of the technology of the 205 T16 though. The 205 T16 btw, was also used in the Paris-Dakar in '87 since Group B was banned.

This 405T16 for me, the 2nd best in the automotive story. First was the 205.

Both never had any other comparable automotive.

that is awsome, ever since I first saw Ari going up pikes peak in "Climb Dance" about 6 years ago now, I have been hooked !, every WRC clip I've seen has been really good but to me Ari Vatanen is the worlds greatest rally driver !!!
