I was absolutely struck by lightning when I saw that Mao's extension looked so similar to Alissa's.. I wondered if Mao was inspired by Alissa Czisny. It must be a coincidence that Mao has a similar skating style tp Alissa's!

I heard it vice versa. Alissa is(or was) a big fan of Mao as much as she even asked Mao for her autograph. My apolgy beforehand in case I'm wrong. I think they both are born with the grace.

By the way, what's wrong with it, copying a good position? I think it's called "learning". I don't agree at all with the practise of some country to steal ideas of others like copying a choreography, though.

As much as I love this program, I am still irritated with Alissa for not being able to do a clean long program. I think if she goes to worlds, she will hurt our chances of sending 3 maybe even 2 women to the olympics next year

They say imitation is the best form of flattery, well then Oksana Baiul should feel honored, as every nuance is exactly copied from Oksana's 1994 Olympic Exhibition program ~ The Swan. Nobody does it better, but I must say Alissa's was lovely. Oksana is the Swan, arms of liquid gold...

Beautiful performance and good for her, I have been rooting for her to skat a clean routine. She has many wonderful qualities.

Seems like everyone is copying Caroline's "Pearl" spin combination. Considering it's Caroline's signature move, I wish the other ladies would do something different to show their own creativity.

that's true, i saw so many skaters since last year trying to imitate the pearl position :) Such a beautiful skating from Alissa. So was Caroline's. I really hope these two win tonight . can't wait just a couple hours away. I will post a lot videos if Caroline and Alissa win top 2 tonight :)

....but not Alissa. She was doing doing this exaggerated layback, haircutter, into beilman spin at nationals when Caroline was a 2nd grader.

While the Pearl may be imitated, there are many copycat elements (bielman sprial). What sets Alissa apart is her line, flow, and inventive spin positions. I think she is the American that can compete on second mark and with spins with Mao and Yu-na. The three of them are really in their own league with spins. line and polish.

So proud of her for winning the national title this year!

i dont think alissa is copying the pearl position, she has had a good arch on her layabck and a good catchfoot proceeding to the bielman. i think zhang copied alissa on the la bayadere program, look at the elements and the notes of the music she skates too, thats copying right there, anyhow who cares, alissa's interpretation was better.
