The Latvian SSR of 1919 was not like the Latvian SSR of 1945-1990.

The first Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic was formed in 1919 but was defeated by right-wing Latvian and German forces. This first Latvian SSR was popular and many workers supported it. Unfortunately the peasants did not liked the idea of workers control over ''their'' land, so they sabotaged the food production. That led to starvation in the cities and gave anticommunist forces enough time to destroy the Latvian SSR.

I can understand the hate of many Latvian people on communism. But like many people they are fueled by hate by right wing people who tell them that the Latvian Socialist Soviet Republic was communist. First of all it was not Communist, it was Stalinist. But the right wing media which controls the economy tells them that the Stalinist regime was socialist. I understand their hate, but their hate is to Stalinism and Josef Stalins fascist invasion of their land.

the reason why i am not in latvia anymore is because in 1994 when i was 5 and half i was adophed by an american famliy. the five years that i live in latvia i was in a instutitionalized orphanage that was establized when latvia was under communist rule. i was nelgected in that orphanage. and i got mulinutricion, which made me get delvopmental delays. my american parents had to work very hard to get my better agian form all the senory deprivation i suffer thanks to communist childcare.
