As an atheist, I would think it most improper to destroy a book, holy or otherwise by dumping it in a toilet.The reason being that #1. It makes it a nasty task for the motel maid to fish it out and the book is ruined. and #2.If you try to flush it down the toilet, it could clog the outlet and flood the bathroom again sticking the poorly paid motel maid the unpleasant task of cleaning it up.

As an atheist, I would think it most improper to destroy a book, holy or otherwise by dumping it in a toilet.The reason being that #1. It makes it a nasty task for the motel maid to fish it out and the book is ruined. and #2.If you try to flush it down the toilet, it could clog the outlet and flood the bathroom again sticking the poorly paid motel maid the unpleasant task of cleaning it up.
If I should find a unwanted "holy" book in my room the worst I would do to it is dump it in the trash bin.

One thing I really adore about Hitchens that I very rarely EVER see anyone on TV do for the right reasons: He doesn't let biased hosts cut him off for long, or spin his statements and cut to someone else. He calls them out and reiterates his view, and TAKES air time, and I respect him for it SO much. I know a University where people have been assaulted for being Jewish, where there was a HUGE fight between mobs on the lines of religion.
