Did Edward's have a stroke? What the heck was he thinking? That really looked like he turned him intentionally as there was no where near enough room to make a pass and Edward's wasn't even up to Hand's rear wheel.
I agree with Smoke that there is NO reason that the raised concrete/grass area. If that was an IndyCar, Prototype or ALMS car, that may have been fatal.
lol if only all race tracks had ramps like that. f1 would become a lot more interesting. on a serious note though i've never seen such an amazing way to crash.
The best part is Joey laufed after it and is amazed at himself the car went 150feet or so in that distince of those rolls, he was nominated for an award by SpeedT.V. but lost to a small % of viewer votes, thats a true driver there laufing at something that could have been worse, heres the clip its at 1:20.
wow, big crash. regardless of who built the track or where it was, its irresponsible of the track builder to leave an area where cars could get airbourne like that. That is a fact no-one can dispute. I bet they've fixed it by now......
...and we all know no one has ever gotten killed or hurt at say le mans or monza. Hell, remember when that Mercedes clr went flipping at le mans in 99 and a few years later they flattened the hill going off the Mulsanne straight? Circuit de la Sarthe has had so much work done to it by now it isn't even funny...so maybe you should restate your statement about Americans not knowing how to build race tracks and try not to sound so ignorant and ''better than thou'' next time...
And Europe has such a perfect safety record. It's not like the most deadly wreck in history was at Le Mans...and the Nurburgring, why that's never killed anyone before. I'm beginning to think that American racing is dangerous, not worldwide motorsports in general.
Yeah it has amazed me for years that there are still areas like this in racing. NASCAR has finally gotten on the ball about that because there have been some seriously terrible crashes due to poor track design. (Jeff Gordon at Pocono, Mark martin at Pocono, Carlos Pardos in Mexico). Its such a shame that there are still so many great tracks with death traps like this one just waiting to be plowed. Its almost like the motorsports world REQUIRES a tradegdy to make changes...scary.
Why is it that people who leave responses cannot speak proper English?
The guy who says he cuts grass at Mid-Ohio...give me a break, it is obvious that you are a 12 year old boy that really can't get a friend, let alone a job. Go post your garbage elsewhere.
you think that was grass that did that? haahaha, mid ohio has been renovating for over a year now, there was a landscaping ditch that wasnt filled in there because they were still working in that area.
Yes it must be hard to know where to put jumps in the track design, but the lead designer got it right that time, great television! Imagine if it were a sand trap?

Look at that legendary 50/50 weight distribution, such great balance. It actually looked really stable in the air, lol.
Wouldn't be saying that if I didn't know the driver was uninjured.

The track officials are to blame for this. There is absolutely no reason for there to be such a dangerous imperfection in the runoff area.
