The other day my friend brought this game over.

@Abracamoron Remember the Lanayru desert dragon you had to get the third piece of the hero's song from? Go back after getting the full song and talk to him to play a boss run of the last 10 bosses. Each time you beat a boss, your reward gets better. You can pick any boss you want to start with (the next ones are chosen at random) and stop after any boss to get your reward. After beating the 8th boss, the hylian shield will be the reward. Stop at that point to get it.

GHIRAHIAM or something... anyway, after you save her from him, leave the area and go to the Anchient Mine then talk to the Thunder Dragon, he'll give you a Boss Gauntlet and a Tears Gauntlet. Comlpleting them both gives you an "unbreakable shield"
