@Morselville I have a wushu athlete and no one ever pushed me this hard when i was young, now i am only european level, not world level and i regret everyday that no one has ever pushed me like the coaches here pushed these kids. As a kid, you don't know better and you can only accomplish truly something great if someone is indeed pushing you through your limits.

Go interview all the medal winning girls in china and ask them if they think it was wrong of their coaches to push them.

@Morselville as I said, this is a culture difference, I am sure that Juri van Gelder (the Dutch medal winning athelete) is also enduring this much pain. the only difference is: he wants to do it because he knows it will get him medals.

So it's all matter of opinion, which way of training is better. I am also a teacher in wushu and am currently also not pushing my students alot. because in the west people don't care about becoming champions, they have a great life and want to enjoy it.
