  • Bette..you are one powerful chick - luv u girl!

  • I have the janis copy... its fucking amazing!

  • The Rose was originally called Pearl.....her estate stepped in and legally blocked it...they went back and re-filmed every scene where Pearl was used and re-filmed it to say Rose.....and there we went

  • Dios mio mujer me has conmovido , debieron darte ese oscar , es morir y volver a nacer !!!

  • BETTE FEELS SO MUCH WHEN SHE SINGS AND YOU MUST BE DEAD IF YOU CAN'T FEEL IT ALSO.

  • Bette did this so well.powerful!

  • so good.

  • This songs has affected a lot of Bette fans. It's one of the slightly off the radar songs that mostly big fans know (similar to "Home" or "The Boss" for Diana Ross fans). I'm fascinated by it. She does so many cries and riffs. It's so dramatic. Her most operatic song. It reminds me of "My Man's Gone Now" from "Porgy and Bess" or "Un Bel Di" from "Madame Butterfly". It evokes a lot emotion for me.

  • such raw emotion, transformed as only the Divine Miss M can do

  • This is Ms M at her best....so powerful.........so with feeling.

  • Amazing!

  • thats just freaking incredible.. no one now days can hold a candle to divine ms m.

  • The saxaphone in the beginning and the piano sort of take away from her voice. The music should complement her not challenge her.

  • It is over ten years later and this song still gets to me EVERYTIME Thank You Bette

  • when i met bette i told her that when she sang this song in the rose i said it gave me chills and that scene is the best scene i have ever seen in a movie...

  • Janis only performed it live, never a studio recording so far as I can find. It's from a 1969 Winterland concert. Lorraine Elison did it originally. It's written/arranged by the same people who wrote "Cry Baby" which Janis made famous.

  • Great - but I'm amazed I can't find the original Janice Joplin version on here!

  • janis never sang this song. I think you're looking for "piece of my heart" from janis.

  • Actually Janis did record this song.

  • are you serious? wow, I didn't know that. how can I listen to it?

  • @delagosis THAT IS CORRECT, AS I HAVE HEART IT TOO, NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS BETTE, SHE IS THE ONLY ONE FOR THIS SONG, HOWEVER JANIS JUST SHOUTED HER WAY THROUGH IT, LOL

  • wow. bette needs to win an oscar. soon. she's not just a terrific singer, she's also a brilliant actress.

  • Such a voice and Power

  • Oh my my there's all sorts of cooky religions out there. But I know

what the face of god looks like.

  • :sigh: There's just no one like our Bette!
