ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version of Gingerbread- this happens due to a recent update by Motorola that fixes the exploit, please post a new video if there is another way to gain root access
I just tried this method following all the steps correctly on my Bionic (actually a couple times). It went through all the steps and it rebooted the phone a couple times, but on the last step a red error message came up instead of the message reading the root was successful. Something to the effect of "Start over and try again...hopefully your Anrdoid version still allows rooting". Any ideas?
Just got bionic this month tried this and it does not work. anyone know of another way to root I have the unlimited data plan and wanted to extend it to my sons iPod touch while on road trips
Just tried it again it did not work. Any ideas or techniques would be greatly appreciated.
It gave me this error; ERROR: adb could not be granted root access via local.prop method Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit was fixed.
Ever since the new phone update was installed on my Bionic the apps that use root do not work. Is there a new hack to root the bionic with the updated software?
i have a question... i root my bionic like 2 weeks ago i now titanium backup give me a ERROR... Sorry, i could not acquire root privileges. this applcation will not woek ! plaese verify that your ROM is rooted and includes busybox, and try again.
with Barnacle wifi teather ROOT access error... Barnacle requires 'su' to access the hardware plase make sure you have root access.
i have the icon for superuser, what can be wrong ?
I have a question, i have rooted my phone and changed the status bar and the 4g sign, and i was wondering how i would change that back to the original state.
Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit was fixed.
please help so frustrated and ive and already rooted once then unrooted but now i cant root again
@rockycapone9 it uses your data, the best is to have a grandfathered plan with verizon then its unlimited 4g lte baby, thats what i got on my droid razr.
Worked like a charm. Very good instructions keep up the good work, and yes the wifi hotspot works. I had to use "SQLite Editor " to change the entitlement setting to zero. Do a google search : How to enable free Wi-fi tethering on Droid Bionic (Verizon)
I rooted my Bionic, removed all the VZW bloat and unrooted it to make sure I could and now I can't root it, gets to step 3 and says Gingerbread version may not be rootable. Did it over 1 hour without update to OS. Can anyone help by the way Petes program worked in 4 mins. Thanks
@TheGamingDisciple .. It's not illegal, depending on how you use it. If you use it for tethering by bypassing Verizon's requirement of the add on package, you are on shaky ground legally. Just using it to ramp up the CPU and other things are legal though. It does void the warranty, so if you break the phone, you won't be able to get a new one.
@TheGamingDisciple Well you can unroot it completely back to stock so Verizon can't find out anyways, plus if you break it, just throw it in water and there's NO way they can tell its rooted.
Have Android Version 2.3.4 (Gingerbread) and ran the rootkit program a few times and keep getting that adb error on the last step which also gives you the superuser app. Little help? Feel free to PM me Zedomax or anyone whom can help!) PLEASE HELP! Thank you!!
@zedomax Yeah, definitely had the right drivers, etc.. Figured out, even though the one-click root systematic installer said it had failed, it really didn't. Not sure what caused that exception to happen but, I even looked a couple times in my apps list and didn't even find the 'SuperUser' App. After looking through one more time, I saw it and discovered also after rebooting, I could use the volume rocker buttons and get the advanced boot options! Just new to this and need to figure out ROM's!
oh my bad i thought it was free since i still have the old umlimited data thing... and since posting that last thing i rooted my bionic, just to be able to do whatever i wanted if i ever want to.. have a good day sirs
i dont see why youd root a droid bionic... it is already a wireless hotspot, it has a dual core 1Ghz processor so its fast enough, it comes proloaded with a full backup app. the only thing you might do is change the opperating system to linux or something for the programers out there... i rooted my first reg droid for the tethering but with the bionic you basicaaly have a hand held laptop... 32Gb's is more then my first laptop had (4 years ago).. thats crazy
@a1cdlr2009 i totally agree. I'm rooting it because I want to delete all the apps that come with the phone. It is just annoying to search through all that crap to find my stuff
@r3sp3ctdaf3mal3s hey nerd, sorry i didnt know what it met And I sorta thought it met jailbreaking, so yeah. don't think you can out argue me either after this comment so don't even try kid. and actually im not gonna even try by how you your user name is. fucking loser. as for you @spikeman23
@rubbersoul816 This is just no true at all. It all depends on the version of your Android OS. With this droid bionic you should be able to do it you need to root the get the beta of wifi tether the flash some files to wifi tether.
Look it up for droid x wifi tether with gingerbread I have it and works fine on the X getting the bionic tomorrow will post back if it works should be fine its the same version of OS.
@olinney If its like the Droid 3 wifi tether still has issues after root. Almost like VZW is blocking it. You can however bluetooth tether and no root is needed.
