  • Gotta save some money to get there....Gee...looks like a shark...

  • When Brazil will have a bullet train like Japan one? NEVER!

  • @RodrigoAlvesdePaula yes...tem razão(you'r right)

  • This design is more than fifteen years old, yet it still looks innovative!

  • i would pay taxes up the ass here in the USA to get a bullet train system.

  • @detibry President Obama gave money to the Governor of Florida to make one..but Rick Scott denied. It was suppose to go from Tampa to Orlando

  • Why people dislike this kind of videos? I don't get it.

  • Safe train then china :p

  • 300km/h not that fast, shanghai's transrapid is faster 500km/h

  • @shadowspsp Safety is much more important than speed. There was no derailment against this big earthquake.

  • @19750726 i know that shinkansen is pretty safe and always on time. i believe the transrapid is pretty safe, too.

and there was a derailment in think in 2004.

  • @shadowspsp if youre talking about Shinkansen youre wrong cause there hasnt been a single accident or death since the shinkansen was created

  • @19750726

i hear that the Shinkansen lines shut down and emergency brake in event of quake to prevent a high speed derailment

  • Who is the train operator talking to? Is it regulation for him to read out everything to himself?

  • @theironfreak It's called "Pointing and calling". Because of the high speed of the train and with the Shinkansen being the most punctual (on time) rail system in the world, the drivers use this "pointing and calling" system to make sure they are on time and concentrating.

  • I bet the view from the "cockpit" is incredible.

  • One question: why does the driver/engineer "angin-san" salute like military every time he enters into station?

  • lol which equals INDIA

  • @osgokul Yeah India's trains top ride wearing pajamas!

  • that thing looks wicked, just like a snake slithering around the corner. Man will it run. If anybody out there wants to buy a ticket for me to take a ride on one, oh about $1500.00 will be ok. I don't why people want to ride em, it just must be getting from one place to another very fast, you can't enjoy the scenery.

  • i dont' know why they retire the 500 series. Its look and speed are better than the new 700 series.

  • @Quy4life

JR west said 500 is too expensive to keep it in good condition, and its power consumption is very high . And it is not a box like train, passengers said it do not have enough space to put their stuffs.

  • @Quy4life

The reason seems that the N700 is more efficient than the 500.

And the 500 is actually cut off some seats (maybe 5-10 seats) than other series of trains due to its long nose.

It is very important for them to keep every trains' capasity the same.

Because it makes selling ticket easy.

  • why does the driver say what he has to do or check?

  • luks like being inside a fighter jet.

  • wow!! shinkansen

  • Where did you get this video? Where did you download it???

  • The cockpit is super futuristic!

  • How did you manage to take this video?

  • i think that the bullet train should be used in underground railway

  • This is easily the best & coolest looking train in Japan. Only thing missing from is a large toothed mouth like on those old 2nd world war fighter planes! :-)

Toobad its replacement 700/N700 is so &%&¤ ugly!

  • great system the japanese drivers have in their training is to 'point-confirm' every important action that they make driving the train......try it when you're crossing the road or (did or did'nt I remember to do it ) when locking your door....it really does work! and it can keep you out of hospital... if only the train driver of the paddington train (disaster) had learnt this system..................?

  • That's so smooth!

  • Out of service since 28th February 2010 :(

  • @Alex18800

    Hi, again.

500series retired from NOZOMi service, but these trains are still operated as KODAMA service in SANYO-Shinkansen area. This new KODAMA service, some amusing conversion for kids ( Driving seat for kids on car No.8 ) have done.

Please come and enjoy it! :-)

  • ...Eventually that french TGV doesn't get this heartbreaking design!!

  • now that's a train!

  • omoshiroi desukedo..

kare wa dare to hanashite imasuka? ..??

  • @battoe23 please see wikipedia "Pointing and calling"

  • Maybe weird question , is the driver talking to the machine and this reacts to its voice inputs? ..........( somebody just confirm it)

If thats true THEN freaking awsome !! European Trains should be all like this !

  • @Alex18800

    Hi.

Well,NO, it's just the confirmation of the driver's action.

Firstly, driver get informations mainly from his eyes, then, confirm by talking and pointing to the indicators at the same time. This is very popular procedure to confirm the important operations in japan.

  • @RJX1011D

Thx for responding , but still its amazing the way they do it ! :)

  • look at that boner,!

  • it's an awesome machine but it still looks like a big dildo

  • Its so streamline... looks like an eel!

  • japan people are so polite..

  • I really love the sound it makes when it accelarates starting at 1:54!

  • ism that blue thing a speed-time graph at 3:20

  • ma tutta la gente co le bustine di plastica XD!!!!!

  • wait, I downloaded this one game call "Densha de GO Shinkansen EX Sanyou Shinkansen Hen"...are they related?

  • what is kankai?

  • kankai=Break "release".

    1)accerating speed,

    2)breaking, and keeping current speed,

  • nice

  • Great video awesome train!!! Would love to ride in one someday!!!

  • japan JR unit design r the best ***** also JR500 to over 10years now still look so top

  • ha, now I know what im going to do. And Japan always wanna be ahead of everyone.

  • Japan, France and China. I think Japans is the best system.

  • @warriorprince1010 france and china have one too?

  • @warriorprince1010 - i don't know China, but in Europe the club of trains that -at the moment- go >300 kmh are:

    Italy - frecciarossa

    Germany - ICE3

    France - TGV

  • @warriorprince1010 It should be the model in use all over Europe. Let's out-Jap the Japanese.

I feel sorry for these people -- they really got dealt a devastation shock with the earthquakes (there have been more now) and tsunami's.

I hope that we are going in to help them out: Italians or Greeks are perhaps a good idea as these people have had their experiences. We are better with water but nothing stops a tsunami.

  • @warriorprince1010

Thanks. But you should not mention China together with Japan and France.

China just buys high speed train system from other coutrries like Germany and Japan.

The coutries who can build the system from zero are France, Germany, Italy and Japan.

  • @charinko86 True. I like the Japanese system though.

  • @warriorprince1010 for your information Japan pretty much invented high speed rail. In 1964, the first bullet train was made and it was by far the fastest train. Made for the olympics that year.

  • @warriorprince1010 SEE WHAT HAPPENED IN CHINA!! THE DUPLICATE SHINKANSEN CRASHED!! BETTER BUY FROM JAPAN YOU CHINESE FOOLS!!

  • @vinaycamay Japan has been duplicating from China for more than 1500 years.

  • this train ise very fast, good video!

  • hey im just wondering, what do they call the engineering for high speed train?

  • airr916 mechanical engineering

But now with maglev trains there are maglev engineers who specifically cover maglev technology. Germany and the UK are good places to start.

The Japanese are currently changing all of their trains to maglevs..

  • In Germany the governor of Bavary has rejected the maglev project between Munich and the airport, valuating it too much expensive proportionally to its benefits.

UK? I don't think UK is a good place to start, since they needed many decades to build a REAL high speed line (the CTRL line London-Channel Tunnel) and specifically it has been projected by french engineers.

  • is that the sound of the magnetic brakes? that sounds awesome =)

  • In What Number?

  • Rocket ship on rails.. wow

  • levijonssheep seriously stfu i live in australia and

the fastest trains weve got are the XPTS and there shit slow japan would laugh if they saw our train system.

  • I live in Canada the distances Japan deals with are not the same and Australia does'nt need to move half it's population every 24 hrs or is it 48 hrs? not quite the same.A little more chance of meeting your sweetie on the train here eh :)

  • @HabboRockz123 shit speed, shit service, shit food

  • The Series 500's have got to be THE sleekest things on rails.

  • You are wrong.

  • they look so f***ing cool , fast and evil....

like a b2 is has entered the staion.

( building one b2 less could have brought money for 10 of those trains, or more i guess.but thats another story)

  • LOL thats where I live!! I love those trains cool, fast, convinient, confortable and safe! I will go get me a HD filming those trains!

  • Thanks for correcting me about the actual speed in kilometers I'm more use to the type of metric we use here in the USA.

  • The bullet train that is going to be built in California is going to be very similar to the one in Spain and the only defference I've noticed is that the Calfornian bullet train's top speed is going to be at 220 mph and the one in Spain is at a top speed at 215 mph (235 km) so you only have a 5 mph defference but on the other hand the bullet train in Spain will probably be faster in the future.

  • 215 mph is actually around 340 km/h. Spain's AVE lines are limited to 300 km/h until ERTMS level 2 is implemented then they can do 220 mph(350 km/h) the same speed as California

  • that thing is LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG

  • I have good news Calfornia will be having a bullet train in year 2020 and will go at a top speed 220 mph. (340 km) This is no rumor I repeat this is not a rumor bring on the future and ditch the slugish and non efficent metro bus.

  • Our Dear Americans!! Please purchase these trains, Shinkansen, for Japanese economy.

  • We Dutch don't have HST connections here apart from two that are in preparation and that will use the Thalys (French) and ICE (German) but I seriously LOVE this Japanese stuff.

  • Americans love their cars too much and don't want to pay the taxes to bring this to the US.

  • Do you know that your taxes are used to SUBSIDIZE roads and Airlines with Millions and even Billions anually? Why don't we just subsidize these trains and have a better quality of life? Let's pour our money here instead of their! These trains have a better chance of turning a profit then roads will NEVER!

  • DaaYay, your right. I know that 70% of people travelling from Hakata to Tokyo, prefer the Shinkansen, as it's cheaper and effiecient.

  • ...and that's a fun job.

  • Every major city in the world should have a Shinkansen Station. It is so---- tanoshii (fun)! I lived in Tokyo, worked and vacationed all over the country and every where I wanted to go, the Shinkansen took me while I am napping, reading, eating, hugging a love one, giving my friend a back rub, with my legs kicked up, never have to worry about being time, parking space. I had my laptop open when I needed to work Monday morning as I come into the city. It is the safest and economical way to travel

  • Dear Yuki1meltingsnow, what is this? You trying to make me jealous? Well your doing a dam good job. I wish I could do all that! The closest I ever got to the Shinkansen was watching it arrive every morning at Kyoto station from my hotel room while I was there on a training course for my company. You could set your watch by it's arrival. Just an amazing train and tells you a lot about the Japanese people.

  • Perhaps we should make Shinkansen - Exporting Bullet train technology groups in facebook. What do you think?

  • Hugely in favor. Please make it and warn me when you did it: I'll join.

  • I road the TGV East line between Metz near Strosburg France near German Border to Paris east station at 200 mPH 320 KPH that was awsome 235 miles in an hour and 25 minutes awsome

  • Just look at that machine! It looks fast just standing still. Love to ride on that. Maybe one day

  • better do it within the next year because the JR 500 series is being replaced by the N700

  • Dear stroock6394, thanks for the tip, but money is tight at the moment. It will just to sit on the shelf with all other 'wish I could' for just a while longer.

  • Nice vids! I will be travelling on NOZOMI or some other kind of Shinkansen between Tokyo & Osaka next week when I visit Japan.

  • How quiet ! it's amazing to see(to hear) how quiet it is from inside as well as outside, nothing to compare with even the new TGV Duplex. And the cockpit is a true bubble glass cockpit, looks even better than the AGV's one.

  • Have you operated a Nozomi, TGV Duplex or AGV?

  • why dint they have that here in uk

  • We can't afford it lol

  • There is an advantage of not having rail in the early 1800 like the Great Britain. Right now it cost too much for UK to acquire new land to build straighter track for HSR?

  • "The man told me ASIMO was it's first rider.........all I know is what the man told me"!!

  • Thanks very much for this fine presentation;-)))

  • A little known fact is that in emergencies, all shinkansen transform into aircraft.

  • lol

  • going through a tunnel on a shinkansen (I was on Hikari's and Kodama's) is really cool. i wish i coulda gotten on NOZOMI but our japan rail pass didnt cover it...

  • looks like dangerous snake

  • Thanks for this, this video is very good! it is really nice to be next to the conductor in the cabin!!! awesome!

  • sana magkaroon din niyan dito sa pinas

  • This train will be scheduled to become a local train by being

demoted , and divided short soon.

Some of them is already dismantled, and has been remodeled. I thank this train for the hardship externals of the special express.

  • Comment removed

  • That's how much they cost to buy. Which is still incredibly expensive, of course.

  • There are 67.2km distances from Hakata to Kokura.

The Bullet Train "NOZOMI" will arrive at Kokura in 15 minutes.

  • Wow, very nice.

  • sexy =D

    mon the Kyushu!

  • سبحان الله

  • man america needs to get more modern with everything its airports, its trains, its buses

  • At the start of the video to the left you can see a 0 series Shinkansen.

  • Fantastic looking bit of kit there!! Looks like it's going 200mph stood still! Can we have a couple please?

  • Actuary South Eastern Trains bought trains similar to this from HITACHI the Japanese company last year.

  • Similar? The class 395 looks nothing like this. I know it's basically the same underneath but that's where the similarity ends. I want this one, flying up and down the Great Central!!

  • Anyone have any idea what the name of the song at the start of the video is called? I gotta find it!!

  • in USA we are behind 40 yrs -shaaaaaaame... when you let special interst groups control the gov. Oil companies have had it their way -- it is time toi face the reality --tooooo late

  • I LOVE this video so much it helped inspire me to post a Blog: "America could have 'built' a better Railroad..."

This video IS featured in that Blog, on MySpace! ^_^

  • can i get a link please

  • His hats like Parkers off the bleedin ThunderBirds !... in fact it looks as futuristic as the ThunderBirds...Amazing !

  • Is this video from a DVD or a TV show?

  • love the cab of the 500 series, i remember when they came out, in my opinion they are still the best emu design to this day.

  • Thank you for the inside views. I've always loved these trains since I visited Japan, and now I know what it looks like to see out the front window. Thank you. and Thank you for the English subtitles too... Awesome videos!

  • Thank you for amazing video. I have not ever seen that. Very interested.

As i undesrtanding , JRailways similary with our airlines. Loudly performing checklist, saluting and other attributics. Highly discipline of JR personals.

Please explane me what is ATC ?

  • ATC is what the drivers of the Bullet train use to confirm the speed.

  • ATC = Automatic Train Control

It is a train protection system for railways, ensuring the safe and smooth operation of trains.

  • any1 know wot "kankai" is? the vid mitve sed but if it did then i missed it.

  • gotta love the cheezy intro music

  •

  • All video are fantastic!! Unfortunately I was not in the cockpit of the Nozomi, but I was traveling from Okayama to Shin Kobe. This is a great feeling!! Thank you very much for the videos.

  • they don't use the lights?

  • Due to the operating speed is usually over 200km/h,traditional railroad signals are not sent well by operating room, instad, they use ATC(Automatic Train Control)to send different signals(including speed limit, when to stop before train reached stations, and other important messages)directly from operating center into the cockpit of driver, and safeguard the security of trains.

  • wat does "Nozomi" directly translate as in Japanese?

  • Nozomi means "Hope" or "Wish".

  • Comment removed

  • @stewartyuen

"Nozomi" is a very popular word as the person's first name.

  • @ks3298 So it would be equivalent to naming a train "John" in the US?

  • @evildude220 Naw. "Nozomi" means "Hope" or "Wish". The other two services called "Hikari" and "Kodama" mean "Light" and "Echo".

  • @th3gtr Dude it means Jabs bitches dying to do a slurp echoing BJ hoping...wishing to light up our lives,

  • @evildude220 could be better by calling it "Joe" lol xDD

Names on the Shinkansen has sense, like: Kodama (Echo) which is fast (also the echo by itself bounces everywhere so it makes sense that the train stops at all stations on the route). Hikari (light) which is faster than the echo. JR had to name a faster service than Hikari, so it became Nozomi (Wish / Hope) it says that the wish or hope are something faster than the light itself (not to go into details)

  • The Nozomi series is excellent could we please have Parts 1-5 consolidated into one piece. It would make easier viewing.

  • youtube restricts file sizes and length (each clip must be under 10 minutes)

  • Quite a snoot on that thing...

  • good videos, thanks.

  • All fantastic videos, congratulations

  • Nice video.
