  • well if we all worked on going tomars and living there we earth peole could of done it tne years ago but knowwwwwwwwww we have to have our drugs and religions and our other shitty things we do. well at least most of the people. so everytime you see a pot head religous nut say thanks for scewing up our trip to mars shit heads and the shitty courts we have to who worship money

  • I'm curious but since terraforming mars is possible, can it be the same with the moon? someone reply :)

  • Never mind now, It's not going to happen since Florida is on the very edge of Bankruptcy Since the state congress didn't pass the proper budget for Nasa, the states credit rating will be lowered to "junk bond" Status i. e No way of ever funding for this space craft, the good news is they'll find way to pay welfare, sect 8 housing, food stape child care, trade school prison housing and service ect for 18 + Million illegal aliens in Florida

  • wow thats bad ass

  • they should turn the space station into a space ship!!

  • To thin, its built only for low orbit space.

  • Sadly today, the committee for human space flight concluded that there is not enough support and cash funding to get Project Constellation to the moon by 2020.

  • Rocetry is OBSOLETE, for 60-years. Electrogravitics, used covertly by the military, shall be disclosed publically, and exploited by private-industry, for low-cost, ultra-fast deep-space travel for all of humanity, same as air travel and sea-travel. Read: SECRETS OF ANTIGRAVITY PROPULSION (2008), by LaViolette, available at any bookstore.

  • dud thay went back next year

  • They didn't want to go back to the Moon, firstly, and secondly, they didn't have the money.

Also, it is hard to get stars onto a shit camera as they had back then.

  • well space traveling isn't exactly the cheapest thing on earth.

  • The end of America's space program was planned long before Obama. Our elites have sold us out long ago.

America's future is in prisons, mass population dislocation management, and mass surveillance.

The best we can hope for is for one Orion to be made and launched. You can bet that a staged disaster will cancel the program but, the Orion will "miraculously" resume under Russian operations, Chinese manufacturing, and Indian engineering support.

  • Very well put. You know whats going on.

  • "Well, it looks great but thanks to Obama this will never happen."

Wrong president. It was Bush that royally fucked the American economy.

  • The space shuttle program was ended only because this is replacing it.

  • Obama gave NASA an extra 2 bilion dolars to aid the developement of Ares I and Ares V so fuck you.

  • @JustAnAdjunct one Orion capsule costs over 3.5 billion dollars doesn't it?

  • @Qasimbajwaa

Wow, old comment. Not one of my more polite ones either :-/

If I'm not mistaken LM's current cost estimate for the development of the Orion/ ISS Life boat is 4.5 billion. It's sad that it's been downsized so much though. As if Ares I wasn't enough, now it's not even going to be a BEO capable spacecraft. It's a shame really, the only part of Cxp that's still viable and it's been reduced to an ISS rescue pod.

  • The space shuttle is designed to carry conpoment and parts for the spacestation, by 2010, all the shuttles will retire, and one of the shuttle will be displayed at the air space museum, and one will be sitting on the lunch pad for display and open for public to see

  • If the space shuttle really is going to retire in 2010, then shouldnt NASA be a bit more busy with making a replacement for the shuttle?

  • ...:).. There are Moon, and Mars, Settlements Already... Bottle rockets for the Masses...Ha, Ha, Ha, The earth is FLAT...

  • There is 1 good thing! this time round every satellite in space will be watching and faking it would be so much harder, but we will never know if the rocket will ever have a man onboard

  • ha ha

people will always find a way

  • I would have imagined the replacement for the shuttle to be a proper space ship like the ventura star. What are they playing at? Its a bloody rocket. One giant leap backwards.

  • There is a main reason for that. Shuttle was not a replacement of Apollo. Apollo was made to reach the moon, the space Shuttle to reach the orbit and come back. In this moment the strategy is to let private companies to reach the orbit and do it as cheap as possible and to make a new Apollo to reach the moon and other planets again but with a XXI century technology. That's the reason Constellation has no wings and looks so old.

  • Just to be clear. Ventura Star (that I loved) had serious problems because was projected on technology that were not ready and are not ready yet (for example composite fuel tanks). The son of the shuttle will be Space ship two and all the other private spaceships that will start working in the next years. Nasa will refocus on outer space.

  • We'll land on the moon, pitch a few tents, and budget cuts will eventually kill the program like it did Apollo. An entirely new kind of engine/fuel technology is going to be required before any serious colonization or even base-building efforts will take place.

  • The shuttle is a spaceship. Orion is less than a tin can. NASA should be scrapped.

  • The space shuttle is just an oversized glider that gets blasted into space on a giant firework. Orion is what real spacecraft look like. Do people really think that something is more spaceshippy just because it has wings and tail fins?

  • "Do people really think that something is more spaceshippy just because it has wings and tail fins? "

Yes, i think most people like shuttle becos it's "cool" looking. Orion is hated only becos it does not look cool like VentureStar etc...

I think Orion was a good choice.

  • @Fricasso79 By your way of thought, orion is like a rock thrown into space by a firework....and a glider is much better than a rock. Orion is the attempt of nasa to make something that works with the money they have, since americans desided that its much more important to spent money on killing people all over the world.

  • @Fricasso79 But shuttle was a step forward at least. Orion is apollo with lcd screens inside. And nasa says about it like it is brand new technology.

  • This spacecraft can land on a asteroid so it is not a step backwards for NASA.

  • 1 step forwards 1000000000000 steps back

  • so... space modules again? :S
