Great questions. When I made the mold, I drew a center line on a real ocarina and pressed it into a chuck of clay until the line. One clay for the top part of the ocarina and the other for the bottom part. Both sides have the mouthpiece extension.

Great video! I have been meaning to get around to making an ocarina for a while now! (clay is fairly expensive though....) and I have been doing a bit of studying up on different methods of doing it, and I decided a bit ago that I like the method you use, and to actually see it in action performed so smoothly really helps! Thanks!

The key of the ocarina is in random.

@ted2930 no it is not you just need to tune it. If a note is too sharp you widen the holes and if too flat you lessen the size of the holes. Hope this helps.

It is a chuck of dried clay with the shape of ocarina. I made it by pressing a real ocarina in the moist clay.

Very cool video. The ocarina being played isn't tuned very well though. It sounds cheap. Maybe a better clay would benefit you. I think it's really cool that you make them, but I wouldn't charge people money for them until you can produce a higher quality product.

The mouthpiece and sound hole should be in alignment. I could not get the sound in my first few times of making.
