Schanbel said to his students who were nervous about playing in front of a big audience, "don't think about yourself; think about the composer at hand, be he Mozart, or Beethoven or Listz, and HIM play." The pianist should be the medium for the music, free of ego. It applies to other aspects of life as well, I think. My youngest niece is not a genius in George's league, not even close. But she, though only 19, always seems to "compose" her life in such a harmonious, englightening way sans ego.

George was told to dress down and try to look like a "normal" kid. The other talented kids performing on the same show had more casual clothes than he. I think he looked cute in those trainers and the camera zoomed in on the sneakers. Please don't criticize Geroge over the choice of footwear again.
