Take your nightcrawler and weave it onto a small sized treble hook. Make your leader line from your bait to your weight about 24". Lastly blow your crawler up with air, I usually use a Hypodermic syringe. Now when you cast, your weight drops down to the bottom and your worm that is now filled with air floats off the bottom about 2 feet, which is right where Trout tend to feed.

@lukester68 a med shank small hook,with a beed of powerbait on the top ( like pea sized piece) on the hook put the smallest mini you can buy. a couple little split shots about a foot from the bait and you got a great rainbow bait. esecially if they are stocked. this works very well for me. let me know if any success on your end. Also let me just say every year i catch my biggest rainbows with rapalas
