@mony19831 No. If you pair to scottish fold with ears like this, the kittens will have a high chance for bone diease. A scottish fold with stiff ears, and one without is paired, and half the kittens will have ears like this.

@filipfenix I know what you mean :P However I own 6 of these cats, and despite it looking like their handycapped they really aren't. They run faster than normal cats as well as the ability to jump onto furniture and off it in a matter of seconds.

The way they stand isn't just something cute either, its an adaptation that the breed has evolved with, allowing them to strategically view things further away and grab things higher up. They are very smart cats, smarter than my long-legged ones :P

This makes me sad...NO BREEDER should cross a munchkin with a scottish fold. They're eye-meltingly cute, but you are significantly raising the risk of deadly skeletal problems that are very painful for the cat.

@SillyLitleGirl I've worked in Animal Control and I've also questioned this but I was informed by several rescue research centers that the mutation in a munchkin only effects their ability to jump. They do NOT have any issues with bones or spinal issues , nor skeletal problems. The Scottish Folds are only prone to ear infections as well as any DLH cat. If anything, the only risk they would have is running from a dog and not able to jump as well. It's a natural mutation. They adapt.

good news for you! it's called a hybrid of two breeds the scottish fold, and the munchkin and it is VERY CUTE but interbreeding is not recomended because of bone and joint problems AND because their legs are stunted they can't do normal cat things, but they are very cute, but are medical tradoffs worth it?

Yes, it's a Scottish Fold , don't worry, nobody did anything to it's ears... that is a normal trait of the breed... but it also looks like part Munchkin Cat (yep, that's the actual name of a breed)... Munchkins are like the feline equivalent of a Dachshund... short little legs... I think this one is adorable!

Meh, the cats get around fine. Some of their legs are fairly long too (varies from cat to cat). The real problem is that in litters there's usually one that has joint fusion (I figure its caused by breeders always trying to get the gene eh?).

It's really weird how folks hate cats. Probably because they're a little more difficult to befriend than dogs.

But cats shit in a box that you can just dump into the garbage can and they regularly clean themselves. They can easily become super affectionate if you play with them and let them come to you on their own accord, they don't grow very huge so unless they don't like what you do or how you smell they wont hurt you.

you can't just feed a cat several handfuls of meat and they'll suddenly become your best friend like a dog.

yea I agree with you. Theres a stray cat who i'm trying to befriend, because he's cold and hungry, we give him food and he's starting to actually come closer and closer to me each time I give him food..it will take a while before he trusts me completely.

no, he won't attack, he'll run away, and than all your efforts will have been in vain.

A lot of people do that, dump cats and expect them to survive on their own. Oddly enough, unlike dogs, cats are perfectly capable of subsisting just fine on rats, mice, bugs, or almost anything. They're independence stretches beyond being alone.
