  • Too much bad plastic surgery.

  • To all the naysayers trashing MF's voice now vs then? Get a life and grow a fuckin' brain. She's a mature older lady that still looks and sings fine! I met her almost 20 yrs ago at Tower Records-Boston and she was a delight to meet, but unfortunately her avid chain smoking has taking it's toll. A very cool lady indeed!

  • wtf she sounds loke shit,,she had a sweet voice wen she sang it wen she was young

  • getting older brings mysterious ways... I like her "lack" of voice.... is almost natural after all this years... only listen carefully

  • She looks so happy!

  • she's always such an encouragement.....i find her incredible and a true saint though she would not admit it i bet....lol....

  • I'll keep listening to her original recording. It was actually soothing to listen to.

Listening to her know is as enjoyable as hearing someone scratch their nails on a blackboard. A 180 degree turn. How sad.

  • @MuslimLoveJewishCock I agree. Jak stara dupa teraz!

  • @MuslimLoveJewishCock Although many others now praise her current voice as having "character, depth, experience, etc.," I find it, as do you, to be a broken fragment of what was once something beautiful and ethereral. Give me--PLEASE--her original recording of this wonderful song. Until then, my own tears will go by.

  • @chatman2a

I'm a teriible singer. As a child I was asked to just move my lips when in a choir. As bad as I am, i am better now than her.

  • she looks wonderful here, no way looks her age, timeless ! Elegant !

  • gosh, she looks and sounds amazing here !! way to go to beat the drugs and homelessness. you rock, ms. faithfull.

  • Yes, But Ur Rich's bought U a Agnes B. Tuxedo, it is simply beuatiful, and U wear it so well, and U look AB-FAB, as always, good bless u my Dar, Dear women !

  • Icon is the term to descibe her, i like her voice better as she has aged like a fine wine, if i can use such a cliched term, its quite unique and she is still a very attractive lady !

  • I love this. I've never heard the mature Marianne sing it with the original orchestrations, only the newer ones. She does quite well.

  • Does she know english???? =)

  • What is the name of the instrument that Marianne mentions in the beginning of the video? It sounds just like what was used in the original 1965 recording.

  • @MrJimmyfinlayson

    Cor anglais ("English horn")

it (the horn) seems a bit out of tune to me btw. it is a great take, still.

  • a lot of tears across the years makes you sing this song in the right way

  • She`s so beautiful!

  • We all grow old...Things in our lives change. None the less ... Thanks Marianne

  • so so much better than 1965

this song should not be sung

by anybody under the age of 50

too many people spend too much time

    listening to american idol pap

    Marianne's voice is real

  • Wow. This takes me back to my childhood - living on a 40 acre farm with a flock of well over 100 sheep. What I'm trying to say is - her voice is baaaaaaaaaaad.

  • lovely lady, she should have married me !

  • Hey we all have water under the bridge,I am just glad to hear a classic song from a classy lady.

  • Nothing wrong with her voice, it's the voice of a lifetime.

  • @ajabberwock You are right!

  • Terrible!!!

  • @gybognarjr

I agree, pitch problems, out of tune, this is painful to listen to

it's almost like she forgot how to sing and you can clearly hear the permanent damage tobacco has taken it's toll....very sad indeed.

this is karaoke bar quality singing to drunks....the arrangements are done well, it's her voice that has not weathered the test of time.

  • Reminds me of Mourning in America....Remember in November...Vote.

  • Thanks a great song! And the lady singing is very lovely and beautiful too!

  • Egy csoda, mint mindig!

  • gafos la mujerv mas bella idiotas n o impurta como cante es lo nas brllo k hay iciotas

  • honestly it`s one of her worst versions. she`s got better than this .

    no offence.

  • @MrJasonroy

    Very True!

When I hear this, I mourn the loss of her fantastic original version

  • the heavy smoking has damaged & charbroiled her vocal chords compared to her 1965 version....very sad indeed.

The 1965 version is crisp, clear & better range.

The new version would never hit the charts

  • @origins1965 True but one could argue that his current voice suits better certain type of songs such as Sister Morphine or this one.

  • @origins1965 I think her 'today' voice is very interesting. She had lost something but gained a lot too. This is the voice in which you can hear the story of her life. I find it much more moving than the voice she had as a young girl. It hasn't stopped being beautiful, it's just a different kind of beauty, more bitter and poignant, not so obvious.

  • simply fantastic.... thank you very much for upload

  • Not sounding nasty or anyhthing but i like here voice when she sang it in the 1960's

  • Plz check out my cover of this song! Ps is this woman famous? I hadn't heard of her!

  • You're kidding, right?

  • I love it!

  • Her voice is an inspiration for creativity!

  • I like it

  • That's her voice the now. She's still as daft as a brush. Still gorgeous. A very clever lady.

  • isn't daft Brit for stupid?

  • Daft as a brush is a kind of affectionate way of saying someone is bonkers, crazy, gone off the rails. She was bonkers for a while, some time back in the 70's, and her lifestyle reflected that. She is back on track now, and although maybe still a bit eccentric, certainly not stupid! All the best.

  • great performance !!

  • Brilliant. I hadn't heard much of Marianne's work apart from Before The Poison and her duet with Patrick Wolf. It would be great if you could upload The Crane Wife 3 from the BBC 4 show, for me it was one of the highlights of the set.

  • really beautiful song.....

  • Marianne looks and sounds fantastic, full of warmth and charisma! This is the voice she's had for 20 to 30 years now, and Marianne, one could say, is a pure 'Nicotine Contralto,' the like of no other in musical existence. One loves or hates, likes or dislikes, this inimitable voice. Personally, her presence is a thing of beauty for its honesty and magnetism. What Marianne accomplishes live is akin to what Dietrich, Lenya, Piaf and Holliday won millions over with. Savor it!

  • She looks really good for 62, but the voice, well.......

  • Is that actually her brother, Marvin Faithfull?

  • Unless you were watching, you wouldn't know! But then there's that 'tux' she's wearing, too. Odd.

  • Too bad--she was so cute when she was 18, and even tho her voice was different, she could sing.

  • Wait, I'm not getting this. Is this really Marianne Faithfull?

  • Exceptional piece, very well done :-)
