Don't be fooled, people! These videos are nothing but right-wing propaganda. This so-called "Patients First" organization is part of AFP (Americans For Prosperity). Their mission is one of suppression and distraction when it comes to health-care reform and "green issues" . . . They even have the audacity to claim that global warming is merely hysteria. One of the directors at AFP trains conservative grass roots activists on how to lobby legislators.

I have long-time friends in Canada who have nothing but excellent things to say about their health-care system. Our system is broken . . . and as long as insurance companies remain in a position to write our legislation, it will remain broken and continue to be the single most expensive "healthcareless" system on the planet.

Rather than listen to a 32 second advert, why not look at the facts? I live in the UK and the NHS (government run healthcare) has ALWAYS been there for me if I needed it. I have asthma and both my mum and dad have long term health conditions which are taken care of through regular check ups and SUBSIDISED PRESCRIPTIONS through the NHS.

In a few years they plan to make all prescriptions free. If you can spend money on war, America, why not spend it on your people?

Under obamacare, it will be the patients who suffer just like w/ medicare/caid. Time to treatment will increase as the number of physicians decreases. Here's an Excerpt from Englands NHS wbsite:

This will have little effect on rich, political elite, and politically well-connected. It may cover some poor and fail to cover others (increase the demand of service, lower supply of doctors = less quality). The "middle class" will get squeezed, just as they do with taxes. The middle aren't rich enough to skillfully evade taxes and the poor can escape paying them altogether. And that leads me to...who's really going to pay for all of this? That's right, the middle.

I agree our taxes will soar. As a physician, I can say it's already difficult to treat under medicare/caid. Those systems don't work and were government efforts. I don't think they can truly make reforms with government run insurance. I think the patients will lose quality of care. Also, the socialized medicine models that exists really don't work

I know a person that has medicaid and blue cross, there fore they were used by doctor and injured badly because of the doctors greed for money. Don't u guys take an oath to save lives?

Why should we all feel that a majority of lawyers knows the best way to structure health care? Did anyone ever think that it would be difficult to sue in a government-run plan? When they deny treatment because it's not economically feasible, where do you turn? When they approve the wrong or ineffective treatment for you (one treatment doesn't treat all), who do you sue? When you want a second opinion, how do you get that?

Resorting to name calling doesn't exactly further your cause in the debate. It's not just "right wingers" who are worried about a take-over of government health care. Having lived for much of my childhood in a pseudo-socialized medicine environment & having spoken to several people of various ages living under Europe's and Canada's health care, I am convinced this is a bad move. Everything's fine as long as you are not sick or injured. Waiting 8 months to get an ortho appt is not acceptable.

You are Right! Socialist medicine, Obamacare, whatever you wanna call it is another way for the government to increase it's power base. I like to look at each of my patient as an individual and present treatment options to them for them to choose from. That's not how NHS works. I did 18 months of core rotations in Brit. I was relieved to return to the US were I could order a MRI for a patient or a cardiac cath and have it done within 24 hours...not weeks or months like it was in Britain.
