Landys operate in a awd mode with a open centre diff when on a hard surface so if the front wheels are spinning faster than the back it wont wind up the gearbox or transfer case, when off road it locks the centre diff. 4WD=locked centre or no centre diff with manual or auto hubs AWD=centre diff

I'm a hunter and in my group most of us have Vitara.
They're excellent little cars.
In the Eastern-europe they're better than land rovers because they're cheaper and it's easier to get parts for them if something get's broken.
Land Rovers are good cars but they're very rare and expensive.
