  • Wow, this is awesome.

  • did your computer hang when you did this painting?...

  • i still dont get liek what brush to use.

  • Can you tell me if you are using a tablet? Can this be done with a mouse? I can't afford a tablet, I'm poor, lol.

  • @iagrl you dont need to use a tablet to draw anything :) a mouse is just as good thats what i use with my art like this and more, do not let anyone that *tablet is best* its not....its about style yes but one does NOT need a tablet..i mouse is just as goob. i used to own photoshop and i trashed it when i using the gimp i never looked back, somuch easy than photoshop imo....so a tablet is a no no, just use a mouse using gimp just as amazing if not best option.

  • I CANT DRAW THE F-ING MOUNTAINS

  • @Chey4551 You need to use a narrow but wide brush. Watch this video for painting a mountain: youtube.com/watch?v=Hk9_t0cQkJE

  • @ronnietucker I dont have doesthat mean it needs to be downloaded?

  • @ronnietucker I just cant do all the detailing its to hard

  • @Chey4551 hard? it's not all that hard detalling the painting, just tae your time :) think what you wanna use and go with it, its what YOU like not what others LIKE! only YOU!, it's your art its your passion.

  • Nice work!

  • what brush did you use for the clouds?

  • Beautiful, just like Ross's paintings!

  • You are amazing!!

  • Would you please do SOME kind of tutorial? I have no idea whats going on and I'd love to try doing this..

  • @MysteryoftheGods check my channel for the four part series I did (in real time) on how to do Bob Ross in GIMP

  • Gee, do you think you can go any fucking faster. I sneezed and missed a whole section.

  • @way2slk reckon you can stop sneezing on my videos then?

  • This is great!! you do a truely amazing job..I can't believe you are doing this with a computer mouse..You have a gift keep using it to express yourself..I love all the stuff you do..Awesome!

  • I've always used Photoshop..I didn't know you can do the same things in GIMP. Does GIMP have actions too? Can you recommend a good site where I can download free GIMP brushes, stamps and actions? Thank you!

  • hehehehe... gimp. *snigger snigger*

  • I <3 GIMP!!!! =D

  • Dude! I want to be like you when I grow up! This is great.

  • wow dude you make that look easy

  • looks like the wilderness in Pokemon TV shows...very good!

  • I use Photoshop and Paint Tool SAI, but I think I could do the same thing in those programs.

I've been attempting nature backgrounds more recently, and I haven't been too bad at it. Of course, what I did was limited.

THIS, however. This is inspirational, this is beautiful, and this is probably the type of thing I'll be doing for a while now.

Good job! And in only 35 minutes!

  • Very clever and imaginative I like it alot !!!

  • im going to try painting online

  • When using GIMP I find that the smudge tool is one of the greatest weapons in one's arsenal.

  • you are very taleneted but bob ross's painting looks more realistic and detailed.

  • You need to scrape the canvas to give an indication of little sticks and twigs. Then people will think you spent hours with your 1px brush putting them in... hehe, great painting dude!

  • sweet

  • J'adore,

Je vais m'y mettre, je découvre juste se que l'on peut faire avec gimp !

  • A+ work, my friend.

  • AMAZiNG

  • Aha! The key is in the smear tool! Awesome video, thanks!

  • What kind of brushes do you use for trees and bushes... as well as for the (white) water foam ? Please respond...

  • @Wolfblaz13 I use a set of free brushes that I downloaded from deviantArt, they're available by searching for '101 Gimp Paintbrushes' they're by '~Xelar-art'

For some reason YouTube won't let me post links/URL's :(

  • @ronnietucker

Oh thanks for the quick response, ill just google it. I saw a lot of brushes on deviant art but i didn't know which ones to use. Thanks ! =) An God bless my friend... :D

  • i can't believe how awesome this is... ^^

  • wow! it looks awesome!

  • awesome

  • nice ..but it feels like it's missing something...:|..u need a sunshine ...beacuse the sky doesn't have to many clouds..(

sryy for my bad englush :( )

  • @tautescu01 yea youre right ;) but its´also beatifull without :D

  • This can definitely help me color better in GIMP. But for the trees, what type of brush did you use under paintbrush tool? It kinda looked like the "galaxy" brush.

  • looks good, but where is the giant happy death tree? ^^

  • can you use a tablet and sketch with GIMP or is photoshop the way to go

  • ANYTHING you can do in Photoshop, you can do in GIMP. Including pencil-type sketches. In fact, GIMP has an excellent inking tool for creating nice ink sketches, or for creating illustrations.

  • Nice thanks alot if you can you should make a sketching video for GIMP thanks again great paintings by the way

  • @ronnietucker

Untrue statement. Although gimp is great and very much like photoshop, brush dynamics settings are still very primitive. you cant do nearly as much brush customization in gimp as in photoshop. But they are working on that as a main focus for gimp 2.7, so look out for that :)

  • u love mountains...do u...ur really good..

  • HEY that brings good memos.. BOB was a great human being..

NOW about your wet on wet digital technique hehhe.. You need to pay attention to where the light comes from! the shadows on the trees are wrong.. Looks like you have 3 suns there...

and always do dark colors first!

Nice try tho!! Remember to have your light source in one place... I this case should have been the top right like the mountains..

  • this is freaking awesome! You just proved to me that a photoshop effect really CAN be achieved by GIMP! Thanks^^

  • cool

  • Do you use pictures for inspiration or is this all original?

  • I usually use one or two photos as reference material, but the results are never a direct copy of the reference photo(s).

  • I love your videos. I totally learned how to paint using GIMP even though there not tutorials. Keep up the good work.
