It's amazing how long I have been reading art books on eyes, watching videos, etc. and yet this is the first time I have heard about a light source explained this way. Thanks Adam, I'll have to keep this in mind when I paint/illustrate my own work!
He uses the Copic incorrectly! And doesn't even know how to tell one end from the other at a glance with the lids still on! Imagine if he really knew how to use these remarkable pens correctly!!
I'm a beginning artist who's looked at literally 20 or so tutorials here on youtube and this is by far the best, most informative one I've seen so far! I've been looking for a tutorial to explain WHY and HOW to do things (rather than just saying, "do this"), so that I can understand & repeat it. Thank you for creating this tutorial - this has inspired me!
@C4RL0Z479 thanks for the suggestion! i wasn't familiar with his work until i saw this tutorial but i've been looking into it since and you're right - his work is amazing! :)
your really good! im terrible with drawing and i wish that i could draw but i just realised that you draw circles really good! my circles are never close to perfectly round hahaha
Holy heck Batman! I've been an artist for over 20 years & have drawn a gazillion eyeballs & eye anatomy even, but never knew/thought about/was taught the refracted highlight from the specular highlight. Definitely an "a-ha!" moment. Thanks!

Adam Hughes got lucky guys. He might get by by mainly drawing girls, but to succeed in todays comic an artist needs to learn to draw both.
And even Adam Hughes can draw men quite well.

They are not pen. They are copic markers.
And I love using them they are so wonderful and easy.
