In the attitude era, bigger guys were winning the title like HHH, Austin, Rock, Undertaker and of course they need to get the most attention in order for the WWF to be successful. Vader--the perfect example of the WWF not being the great promotion that a lot of people suggest it is. This guy should have been a monster heel in the WWF with years at the top feuding with all sorts of guys. But because of one Shawn Michaels temper tantrum and Vince not wanting to own up to the fact that Vader made his name in WCW, he gets buried for 3 years.
@hbk2hhh During their Summerslam match in 1996, during Shawn's unprofessional period, something happened late in the match where Vader was out of position for one of Shawn's high spots and Shawn threw a fit and basically refused to outright work with Vader again. Basically what could have been the Sting/Vader feud in the WWF that would have put Vader on their map and made Shawn an even bigger legend was ruined after that night and Vader slowly shunted down the card.

Mick was so great he got Mankind over and sold Vince on the idea of using Cactus Jack.)
The WWE from day one never used Vader the right way. He should have won the rumble the year he debuted, or him and Yoko could've made a great team. He should have been Champ at some point.

I think he could have carried the company with the WWF Championship at some point. They just never really gave him the huge push that he needed to be over enough with the fans. Hell in '96 they even named a PPV after his phrase (IYH: Its Time) thinking that he would surely be champ by then.

It doesn't matter how much the WWE didn't like Vader, there is no reason to bury someone who contributed to the business as much as Vader did this badly. A champion in more continents than most wrestlers ever. One of the top big men ever. Edge kicked out of Vader's Powerbomb. Vader could've lost without that spot. Props to Vader for being a professional and doing what the promoter asked despite how stupid it was. A shame the promoter didn't have the same respect.

EDGE SUCKS one of the most over-rated pieces of trash ever it is a damn shame that now he is a ten time world champion. Doesnt not deserve it. Vader is way better then Edge. Vader can do a moonsault! But it sucks how wrestling has changed they are more actors then wrestlers now. Edge has just never pissed anybody off in WWE that is why he is on top.

Wrestling was way better in the attitude era because more then likely in every both the guys involved could actually wrestle and pull off good moves together. @atombomb8487 I agree with you on one thing. Edge doesn't deserve to be a 10 time world champ. Especially considering Taker, arguably the best in the biz, has only been champion 8 times. Rocky only held it 9 times. Stone Cold was a 6 time champ, and HBK was a 4 time champ. How does it make sense that Edge has as many reigns as The Rock? Because there's no competition. It's Orton, Edge and Cena nowadays, and that's it. WWE has gone down the shitter, no doubt about it. Long live the indies!

Vader--the perfect example of the WWF not being the great promotion that a lot of people suggest it is. This guy should have been a monster heel in the WWF with years at the top feuding with all sorts of guys. But because of one Shawn Michaels temper tantrum and Vince not wanting to own up to the fact that Vader made his name in WCW, he gets buried for 3 years.

@hbk2hhh During their Summerslam match in 1996, during Shawn's unprofessional period, something happened late in the match where Vader was out of position for one of Shawn's high spots and Shawn threw a fit and basically refused to outright work with Vader again. Basically what could have been the Sting/Vader feud in the WWF that would have put Vader on their map and made Shawn an even bigger legend was ruined after that night and Vader slowly shunted down the card.

@mobi0501 I agree, but sadly it was routine for WCW guys to get treated badly by the WWF at that time. Only a select few managed to overcome that problem and get over (usually after cow towing to McMahon's version of their persona's...for instance McMahon didn't want Cactus Jack in the WWF so he had Mick Foley become Mankind instead. Mick was so great he got Mankind over and sold Vince on the idea of using Cactus Jack.)

Actually Adam (Edge) said that this was the only fight in his career where it was a true fight, with the hits Vader was throwing being hard, until Edge started hitting back, then he calmed down but apparently he was upset about putting Edge over (meaning having Edge win) so he decided to take it out on him by throwing real hard fists and hits.

@JoeDawgJC I agree. I loved Vader and as a kid he was one of my favorite wrestlers in WWF (was ever much of a fan of WCW). I think he could have carried the company with the WWF Championship at some point. They just never really gave him the huge push that he needed to be over enough with the fans. In my estimation, he would have been an excellent champ whether heel or face.
