According to U.S. Figure Skating's bylaws, an injury petition can be granted based on a competitor's performances in six previous events over the past year. Kwan, 25, participated in only one of those six events. And she did not win a medal.
Bob Costas kept touting the sport all night. His funniest line wasn't meant to be. With a tone as dead as Michelle Kwan's Olympic hopes: "We head back to Bardonecchia for more of the spectacular adrenaline that is snowboard cross." (Cyd Zeigler Jr.)
yaaa i got a copyright notice on the song and they dont have the audio for me to replace it with... so until i figure out some other way of gettin it back it has to be mute I'm sorry :(
so i tried to download your video but i couldn't cause it said it wasn't there anymore. if you could put it up again that would be great bc i love it and would love to have it
hahaha ya I forgot that link only worked for so many downloads or for so many days, whichever came first. I'll try to reupload it sometime soon. Thanks for tellin me.
this is a nice video thanks for uploading..she actually inspire to try figure skating and though she has been skating for a long long time there will be times when any competitive skater would have to retire from such competition...at least she did inspire then world in some ways
thank you so much for reminding me of the treasures michelle bestowed upon the world with each and every one of her magical performances. we are so blessed to be able to witness this kind of beauty..
okay i'm commenting again. the footage of her talking to the judges and peopleduring the warmup is so sad! she looks so heartbroken! i wish i could say to her "its okay, you know we'll still love you". another thing! i LOVE how she smiles during her spirals! and throughout the routine. its not like "i'm smiling for the judges" its like "i'm smiling becuase i know how blessed i am to be doing this thing i love and i'm going to enjoy it". it is amazing to watch
this brings tears to my eyes. i agree with what everyone has said. she is timeless and she didnt need the medal to capture out hearts. she is tender and joyful and strong. she is just lovely
i dont know if I commented on the montage yet!! great job! this song is so beautiful and it brings tears to my eyes! I think this was an abbsolutly wonderful montage! plus saying its michelles farewell, to me thats fine, I mean it was at least her farewell to like a stage in her career or life or whatever you know? anyway great job! I love it! :)
Why does she have to retire? Many expected her to turn pro in 1998, then again in 2002... oh and 2004...and then again in 2006. See where I'm going with this.lol. She's awesome. She'll do what she will do. Lets just hope she takes her time, and allows her body to heal. We all need a little break from time to time, and with all that shes done, she deserves it!
Only Michelle will be able to decide what her body can do. I, for one, still believe that if she feels up to it, she can do it. Whatever "it" is. She's increadible and if she wants to compete again, I have no doubt she can do it. Great montage, btw.
THE GREATEST SKATER IS NOT THE SKATER THAT WINS THE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL. I am not trying to downgrade those who wins an Olympic Gold; however, I don't think a Gold Medal can judge is a skater has been the greatest skater ever. For example, Zhen and Zhao retired this year, and they did not earn a Olympic Gold, so did Janet, Irina, etc. This is all due to the fact that skating is so OBJECTIVE and POLITICAL!!!!!!
this was really pretty! I just don't understand how people can still think michelle will come back. She is my hero and she inspires me everytime I see her skate, but she has been doing this for a long time, its ok for her to stop. I don't think her body can handle it very well, plus if she wants to be able to move when she's A LOT older, it would probably be wise for her to just stop now- I mean, she's amazing, and i would love to see her stay but that feels like too much to ask for
futurechampion2, I am so glad that even though you are a Kwan fan, you are still fair and objective about Kwan's career. I agree with your comments completely-- there is no doubt that Kwan had a great era (as this video shows) but she can only be the star for so long. I wish those Kwan fans who are in serious denial about the end of her career could accept this as you have.
lol i know! theres popel like...Kwan: I still belive for 2010!" Im like uhhh...nothings impossible but, I feel like she's even moving on herself you know? she seems really happy right now with school and the few events and stuff she's done and I think shes just mentally like away from skating now...out of room
.......plus the last u heard she could really only do a couple doubles and single axels with her hip the way it was...i think it would injur her hip a lot if she tried to start training again and I also think that she knows that and has come to terms with it you know? anyway IM glad you agree lol, I still love her SO freaking much omg she'll be my hero forever
And, make no mistake, it would be cheating.
