hi! i love this lesson soo much but before i do try your tutorial, my hair is really thick, shoulder length, and wavy. when i blow dry my hair at home its one of those blowdryers without the nozzle. and even though i put heat protection my hair dry up easily. any products that can help with that?
I love all your tips, finally I got the answer to the question, does it matter which order you put your styling products in, I never was sure if I should put my mouse in first then my straightening serum (vise versa). I saw that you put the mouse in last so im guessing thats correct or does it even matter?
michael i have REALLY thick, wavy ,frizzy, layered hair! most of the time i wear my hair up but when i do wear it down i just blow dry it now sections, brushes or anything..and it gets really ' crimpy' thick and frizzier! then i have to split it in 4 sections and use an instyler which it is much straighter but still frizzy! any suggestions???
My favorite thing to do as a hair dresser is blow drying. And let me tell you, after all the videos that I have watched over blow drying hair, he is one of the only people that really knows what he is talking about. Before I have even seen any of his videos, I have been taught all these tips and tricks from professional salon owners. He has good advice guys:) nice video!
i have thick VERY THICK poofy hair i have layers like 1,the person who cut my hair was stupid...but i do need blow drying tips because my hair is very bad off when blow dried and i don't want to have to deal with this hair.,Any tips?
Helloo, I have straight and relatively thick asian hair that goes to my waist. I was wondering what type of products you would suggest I use when blowing out my hair?
Hi Michael, I have very thick Wavy hair and when I blow dry it it quadruples in size and takes forever. When i go to my hair dresser he blow dries my hair and it come out sleek and with minimum volume in a matter of ten-15 minutes way (like i like it). I have the products he uses when he does this but i don't understand how he gets my hair so to not increase in volume in such a small amount of time. Help!
the tecnique used by the hair stylist sure helps it, but if u want to blow hair straight like a pro, just use a professional and very potent blow hair dryer... thats what they do, thats why the hair gets dry and straight so fast and looks so good... cause of the potency of the blow hair dryer. just in case someone wants to know, a good, professional and perfectly potent hair dryer is one that has its potency from 1800W and above.
Its nice to see a professional actually use a protective drape/cape on the client for how-to videos. For that good sir, i thank you!
I can't tell you how many times I have seen cuts, colors, or styles with no drape/cape on them, or, if there was one, it was usually the wrong kind. Example of that would be using a nylon cutting cape like the one in this video, used for chemical or color.
The end result is beautiful, however, his hands go right over the top of her head right after he rubbed the finishing serum onto them and for many people this will weigh down their volume. Instead, try applying product from the bottom to the top. The ends are typically where hair lives that is the most damaged...either from chemicals or natural environmental changes. You can always add more product if its not enough, but you can't exactly wipe it of if its too much.
Hair is dead once it leave the scalp. All this product crap is foolishness. Things and products can break the stands but the strands ARE already dead a half inch from the scalp. Thats why it hurts to be pulled from the roots but doesn`t hurt to pull the length.
@LoveMokes that statement is obviously not well thought out.
Your skin, the upper layer of the epidermis, is all dead skin cells. Dry skin, break outs, and sores all belie the problems within your body that show themselves on your dead skin cells, your skin. Moisturizers and treatments make an obvious difference. Just like the skin, hair, more dead cells, can be altered by product by the same principal. And, why do hair cells have to be alive to make a difference? it doesnt. think nail polish.
Power drying the roots in an upward direction is perfect for someone doing their hair at home, however, Pre-drying the roots with a brush would give better stretch/control especially for coarse/wavy-curly hair that tends to be frizzy and looks alot nicer on a professional level, it would also address the cowlick in her bangs that creates the seperation you see in the end by completely blow drying them first then moving onto the rest of the head.
Hi okay i dyed my hair permanetly dark dark brown. And i want to get my natural or a way lighter colour but i can't bleech it! any tips!!!!????please.?
your just going to have to slowly dye up to the shade that you want to be, it takes a long time, but since you don't want to use harsh chemicals like bleach, its the best bet. Also, professionals can help too, I dyed my hair black for the longest time and I had my hair stylist use hair color remover on me, and my hair turned out fine.
Wow. I wish my hair looked like that when I tried this. I can never get that much volume, no matter how hard I try, and my hair has a natural curl, which is irritating.
Honestly, this technique looks harder to do than other techniques if you're doing it on yourself. If it's on someone else's hair, it might not be as difficult because you can see the whole head and where hair is flying while you're blow drying. That's a good tip to use mouse at the base of the hair shaft, but wouldn't it be better to use root lifter?
<___< they're always guys who don't have to blow dry their hair straight themselves! But when you're doing it alone is super hard to do it yourself. And the guys don't know that because they don't have to!
I used to live in Nashville and Michael cut my hair for several years. He is a very talented and knowledgeable stylist. He was able to get my color just right- and then when I was leaving- he reminded me to tell my new stylist the best formula mix. If you're ever in Nashville, see Michael for a great look. Mark :)
i have this problem where when ever i run product through my hair a bunch of hair comes out in my hands. My hair is pretty fine/thin to start with. Is there anything that can prevent/reduce this?
I was wondering what the best shampoo and conditioner is for my hair. I have a dry scalp, my hair is naturally straight. and is thick. any suggestions? thankyou :D
Michael, I've been blow drying my hair for quite a while on and off. I use the volumizing mousses and everything you recommended in the video, however when I blow dry my hair it looks like I used a straightening iron instead of getting that beautiful curl and flipped out look. What am I doing wrong?! If it helps, I have tons of layers in my hair and it is wavy and thick.
sounds like your technique needs changing. when you have the section of hair dry try winding it up on the brush and hitting it with cool air to set the curl.
@oxjay try using more then one brush ,when ur doing a part leave the hair rolled in the brush and work on another part , i have long think hair i use about 5-8 brushes( they will act like rollers) when i run i unroll the 1st roll i did and i pin my hair when i'm done with all my hair i take all the pins out and i have real great looking curls
@oxjay you have to keep trying on someone else in order to learn to do it on urself. i did for like 2 weeks on my sister...and that's how i learned to finally do it myself. everyone always wants me to blowdry style their hair now=D
I have frizzy thick hair with a lot of body that is just a few inches past the shoulder. I would like to know how to blow dry my hair straight
I have a defuser on my hairdrier, I blow dry in sections, I have a straightener, and silk drops that bring down the frizz. I have naturally wavy hair. Please help :)
P.S. i have the rite products bc my stylist has gotten it perfect without washing my hair, just wetting it down with water.
try loreal professional shampoos, absolut repair or liss extreme. the masques are amazing. second i would lose the chi and go for a ghd iron. it will not burn up your hair and holds a constant heated temp. also try texture expert styling products. fluid intense will smooth you out alot before you get to the ironing of your hair. good luck
since you are in hawaii i would look for kakui nut oil. and old hawaiian remedy for just that, frizzy hair. i bet it will be outdoors so i would dry and iron the hair and keep it loose although controlled so your hair looks done. i also always say that you should schedule for someone to do your hair as you will have a million things going on that day. it may be easier on you.
i have thin frizzy/curly hair about shoulder length. it isn't very curly, it is just wavy and ugly. i don't have a straightener, because i was told i have too thin hair. how can i give it a pretty look. products? blowdrying techniques?
i think i would want to cut a couple inches off. try a product from texture expert called smooth velours. this will help control the hair without it being crunchy or oily looking. also try curling the hair in sections around your fingers and pin in place let it air dry or with diffused heat and then gently run your fingers thru to seperate.
yes i do curly hair. product is your best friend. try loreal texture expert product line. the gelee riche is for course hair, it leaves it soft and manageable also try the fluid intense. together they should smooth out your hair without making it stick straight
hi its great how ur showing us ur techniques but how can we blowdry the back part of our hair ourselves? by the time ive finished the back of my hair is one big buff.
blow the hair with your hands until 80% dry, then section by section work your way up the back.sometimes i will spritz the hair with water if it has gotten too dry to style. also i always try to start from the back and work forward. i will also say that if you can't style your hair it may be time for a good haircut.
That thing about the hair sections not being deeper than the diameter of the brush is interesting... The things one learns in YouTube!! XD
The result looks very good =) But how much time did it take in the end?? I don't usually blow dry my hair because it takes a lot of time, and my hair is veeeeeeeery long, so I don't have the patience to blow dry it properly!! XD
it took about twenty minutes. sometimes adding a protein based conditioner to your hair can help keep out excess moisture. use it maybe once a week. you dont want to get too much or your hair can dry out.
not one product does everything for everybody. these products were used to for her hair type which is color treated, slightly wavy with some courseness from grey. if one product works well then great, but most times it is not enough.
the place i live, is humid and blow drying doesn't work well on my hair actually.. i mean it doesn't last more than 2 hours, then it looks horrible, what can i do??!?!?!??!?!
i find that getting the hair absolutely dry is a good start. then ironing the hair with a good iron ,like a ghd iron, helps to lock out the humidity. also finishing with an anti humidity hairspray like kenra #26 will help too
Hi Michael. Well, my hair is just a few inches or so past my shoulders, and it is not too thick and not too thin. Also it is a little curly, I mean loose curls not tighten. So how I shall go upon blow drying it in a professional way as you had said in this video on your Channel?
the texture expert line has a product called spirale extreme which encourages curl. start with that and use a diffusser trying not to seperate the curls too much along the way. maybe even adding in a little shine perfection would help too. let me know how this works
keep a very regular schedule. turn down nothing that comes your way. get as much training as possible. learn to finish your work as best you can.try to stay away from cliques at work and dont gossip.
You did a great job on her hair. I have wavy curly hair. Would I use the same products for a blow out? could you give me any tips for my type of hair it's long and medium thickness. Thanks
You are fantastic to watch, more videos would be awesome, how about how to get curly/wavy hair or even better, styles for different face shapes which is so necessary and would be so helpful. Thanks

Hi Michael. Well, my hair is just a few inches or so past my shoulders, and it is not too thick and not too thin. Also it is a little curly, I mean loose curls not tighten. So how I shall go upon blow drying it in a professional way as you had said in this video on your Channel?
Thank You Much! Great tips.

the texture expert line has a product called spirale extreme which encourages curl. start with that and use a diffusser trying not to seperate the curls too much along the way. maybe even adding in a little shine perfection would help too. let me know how this works

keep a very regular schedule. turn down nothing that comes your way. get as much training as possible. learn to finish your work as best you can.try to stay away from cliques at work and dont gossip.

i think it depends on the hair. the styling tips should work on any type of hair, but the product may need to be modified.

the type i used is texture expert line. probably dont need the mousse, but the smooth velours and the shine perfection together should be great.

You are fantastic to watch, more videos would be awesome, how about how to get curly/wavy hair or even better, styles for different face shapes which is so necessary and would be so helpful. Thanks
