Are you sure about the ~900m depth? It sounded like the loudest impact of the rock was 8 seconds after it has been released. Oh damn, I forgot: NERD ALERT!! Now that this has been cleared, at maximum falling speed without air resistance the bang will take 8 seconds for about 270m. If that vent goes down 900 and it doesn't bend or anything, the noise should come 15 seconds after the throw. I'm being nitpicky. Maybe that sound at 0:08 was another wall hit and the final impact was mute.

@tyler1422 Hi Tyler. That is a common misconception. Falling speed, what's faster, feather or rock? In fact, in a vacuum (say outer space) both would be equally fast depending on the forces pulling them. Here on earth all objects are drawn towards the core by the force called gravitation, depending on mass. They have to move the air around them, which means there's air resistance depending on surface and shape. Heavy rocks don't fall faster, the air doesn't slow them down as much.

@tyler1422 Ah and of course, I forgot to say that, in my initial comment I completely left out air resistance which would even slow the rock down and reduce the presumed depth of the well. Not by much, though.

Also, since rocks all have a similar density and therefore a roughly proportional size to mass scale, the difference between smaller and bigger rocks is arguably negligible considering the estimations are very rough, concerning hundreds of meters of difference. Cheers. ^^
