  • Ah, the 70s! Splinter in your eye? Mom isn't concerned. She'll just give you a cookie (admittedly, sweetened with sugar rather than high fructose corn syrup) instead of seeking medical attention. Remember, you had two eyes in case you went blind in one of them.

  • Hey. I have no problem with my Mom giving me a cookie , or a piece of pie, or cake if I had a splinter or a black eye. Most kids would prefer that than a hug or a kiss. Not that there's anything wrong with a hug or a kiss.
