When Michigan came out with Nick Sheridan at QB in the Utah game, and when we gave up the 55 yard pass on 3rd and long that set up their first TD, I knew that something wasn't right. And then 2 weeks later when we put egg on our face against ND, I knew dickrod was an experiment gone awry.

LT=Stephen Schilling, redshirt sophomore(returning starter at RT who's moving over to LT to replace Jake long. he's a former 5 star prospect)

LG=Tim McAvoy, redshirt junior (saw some decent playing time last year when Alex Mitchell was injured)

C=David Moosman, redshirt junior(former 4 star prospect who finally has a chance to shine)

Those guys have watched and learned from the sidelines for 3 years. I think they've picked up plenty of hints on how to be successful.Plus, under R's coaching, I really am not worried about them. Heck, i'm not worried about the O-line period. People make it sound like our o-line is a bunch of freshmen with no talent, and nothnig could be further from the truth

RG=Cory Zirbel, redshirt junior (just like moosman, he's a former 4 star prospect wh finally has a chance to shine)

RT=Mark Orttman, redshirt junior (he say some nice playing time last year when schilling was banged up)

three of our 5 starters on the o-line DO have experience. The other two projected starters-Zirbel and Moosman-have plenty of raw talent, as they were former 4 star prospects, and technically they are redshirt juniors, so nobody can liken them to freshmen

Exactly. Unlike last years Notre Dame squad, the 2008 Michigan Wolverines team is stacked with talent. Steven Threet and Justin Feagin are talented quarterbacks, but all they ahve to do in 2008 is be game managers. The runninggame and defense will take care of the rest

Yah I really hope he gets the start over Minor, the only problem with Brown is his ball handling, he fumbled a few times, but thats nothing that can be fixed, as for 2009 we got our guy, Fitzgerald Toussaint (if thats how you spell it) He is better than minor and brown and hes just junior in HS, this guy is sick and should be awesome in maize n blue.

Toussaint will be sweet one day, but in 2009, Brown, Minor, and Grady will be seniors, and Sam McGuffie will be a true sophomore. I highly doubt Toussaint wills ee the field in 09 considering how deep Michigan will be at TB

Robinson is going to the slot, but Shaw will most likely stay at tailback. He is too strong to put in the slot, he is more of a true back than Toussaint (three inches taller, fifteen pounds heavier). Fitz, Shaw and Mcguffie will compete for the future starting spot. That leaves us with Teric Jones, Terrence Robinson and Martavious Odoms at the slot (maybe Roy Roundtree too)

Rodriguez has speed all over the damn place, we're going to be crazy good in two seasons.

We're going to be really good right off the bat. RR will have us as a jauggernaut eveyr year for years to come. Like you said, we are loaded at TB for the forseeable future with Toussaint, Shaw, and of course, McGuffie. Don't forget Avery Horn either. he has great speed. Then at WR, we have all the guys you mentioned plus Junior Hemingway and Toney Clemons. We've also got a commitment from Bryce McNeal. And Roundtree probably will play receiver.

As the fourth receiver, Stonum probably won't put up very good stats, but in the future, that guy will be a gamebreaker, probably even more so then Roundtree. he's big and fast.

It COULD be a close game, but i don't think it WILL be. Utah may have 16 of 22 starters back, but Michigan returns 7 of 11 starters from a defense that ranked 24th in the country, returns everybody on special teams, and has game breakers at runningback (Carlos Brown, Brandon Minor, and Kevin Grady) and WR/TE (Greg Mathews, Carson Butler, Junior Hemingway, Mike Massey)

BTW, does Utah return Brian Johnson at QB?

Yes i did. Utah looked great in that 35-32 win, but remember, that was Navy. This is Michigan, and this game is at the Big House, in the home opener, in RR's first game. I think Michigan will win it rather easily, although Johnson could give us some problems running the spread offense

After that game, I knew Lloyd Carr had to go. I had been a Wolverines apologist up until that game, defending Carr and defending what Michigan had accomplished this decade. But after that 34-32 loss to App State, I knew that Michigan needed a makeover. Thank God we have Rich Rodriguez to give it to us. We've done better then U-M haters think the last seven seasons, but losing 6 of 7 to Ohio State, 5 of 7 Bowl games, and multiple 3 and 4 loss seasons is unnacceptable. Carr had to go.

Agreed. I think that in the 2004 season, there should have been a three game "playoff" between Utah, Auburn, and USC to decide the national champion.

Here's why I think it will be a blowout:

-Michigan has a huge chip on its shoulder after losing last seasons home opener. They will come out with avengance trying to win this game

-Rich Rodriguez also will come out with a bone to pick in this game, as he has to send a message in his first game. He will have Michigan extra motivated for this game

-Michigan is supremely talented to Utah, and the game is at the Big House

-Utah is too used to Mountain West competition

I totally agree. The first 6 games are a cakewalk. That will give the offense (especially Steven Threet, Feagin, and the offensive line) plenty of time to grow and gain experience before Michigan heads into the teeth of their schedule. Unfortunately, they will lose to wisconin in game 4, as the offense gows through growing pains, but they will destroy Utah, Miami (Oh), Notre Dame, and Toledo, and they will also beat overrated Illinois by 10-14 points.

for a first week opponent, Utah is a very good team - they went 10-3 last year and beat some good teams like Louisville. and Notre Dame is not gonna go 3-9 this season, they're gonna take off the braces and bite with some sharper teeth this year. and Illinois is not overrated. we can't be too dissapointed if Michigan lose 3 or 4 of these first couple games in the Rodriguez era.

Even if Notre Dame improves this season (which is a longshot in and of itself), the Fighting Irish still aren't nearly good enough to beat Michigan. The Wolverines will crush Notre Dame for the third consecutive season. That trip to South bend will be a cakewalk.

They are good enough to win 7 or 8 games (and I think they'll upset Ohio State for the second consecutive season), but they aren't good enough to beat Michigan....especially at the Big House. Illinois is NOT going to beat Michigan, and it really pisses me off when everybody says Illinois will do that.

Yah, The offense I think will struggle, is a new system and we dont have the "Right" players YET. Defense is our strong unit and I doubt a 10 win season, I feel a 6-8 win season.

You are wrong. We DO have the right players. No honest person can say that 4 and 5 star prospects are the "wrong" players. Mike Barwis is molding guys like Greg Mathews and Carson Butler into "RR's players" as we speak. RR has his players, and with Justin Feagin coming in, he will have a QB to run the triple option and zone read when he wants to. And like you said, Michigan has a strong defense. They WILL win 10 games next season.

I would love to see a 10 win season, but like you said 4 and start RECRUITS. they are freshman, they have never played before,its a new level and you have to expect them to struggle in some situations. Yes Barwis is an animal but transition doesnt happen over night, But I never said they will not play fast,physical and tough every Saturday, But with road games AT penn ST, ND, and at Blowsu, 10 games seems like a stretch.

Actually, i wasn't necessarily referring to our incoming freshmen class. Guys like Mathews, C. Brown, Minor, and most of our players on defense were all tremendous talents coming out of highschool. They are all experienced, and they are all 4 and 5 star prospects, and RR gets to work with them now. I think that will lead to a huge season for the Wolverines in 2008.
