Where`s Funiculi Funicula? The only thing distresses me about this show is you have Keith sitting very low on an organ when he you he used to play a baby grand - that really augmented their sound and he was so predominant. Not to start a flame war but Keith was miles ahead of Brent, Pig, et al
You can really here the reggae unertones in this version,w hcih would make sense given Jerry was doing alot of reggae in 78

Its funny how they all got up there and just did what ever the hell they felt like doing lol it was like one big band practice. Never the less, the greatest musicians to walk the face of the planet.
Thanks for sharing the show....great example of the halcyon days of the dead...i.e., calm and tranquil...happy and carefree. Imho some of the greatest shows happened during the late 70's in small venues of 2-3 thousand folks. There wasn't police or security, you could walk up front and hang out for a while...like seeing them in your living room.
what a beautiful glimpse into seventy eight dead...too bad they did not play there every year and someone put a camera on them like this more often...lovely stuff
I love this '78 show at Duke. The fuzzy b/w vid provides the proper sense of distance, 31+ years ago. The wonderful love and music from that night will last forever.
Thanks for the rare Dead post. I'm raising awareness about the Chinese Communist Party persecution of 70 million Falun Gong spiritual practitioners for 10 years in China. They are put in slave-labor camps, forced to make goods sold here. A 2009 UN report said vital organs are taken from some of them and sold on the black market. Falun Gong practitioners are peaceful, not terrorists. China is where all the jobs are going, and the media doesn't cover it.
I love that reggae ending. And now I know where Jerry kept his slide. It looks like you're going straight through the set list this time...Yeah! Keep it up. Don't skip "Around and 'Round" this time, please, nine nines (that's just a guess). I want to see Donna screaming!

@TheEhce i liked this song because I thought it had a great reggae-like feel. But I don't think its just in this where it feels that way .

When I chose my new organs i received the;
Liver from Italy
Lungs from Washington State
Wooden leg from Hickory NC
(Im still searching for a replacement heart so when this ones stops bending like it has been, it dosen't break).
Good luck with your endevor. But take time to laugh too.
