  • @gazdublin, that's true, here they do seem to at least be more sportsmanlike. The Australian Gladiators in both the old and new series (apart from 1 female gladiator and 2 male gladiators) seem to also show some sportmanship afterwards, although it's a bit here and there (sometimes they do, sometimes they don't).

  • that looked awfull. did she recover?

  • @mikeykm1993 Yeah, she did recover to return for the next three series of Gladiators then retired from the show in 1997/1998 series.

  • I watched this and to see Panther get seriously injured was a tad to upsetting for me but good on Erica for supporting Pather when she injured herself and of course Zodiac for showing support to Panther, the one thing I don't get is why the producers didn't pull the challenge out after the serious injury to Panther

  • @Kaynas1988 I heard they pulled the pyramid out for some time when jet's career ending neck injury happened, which resulted in the safety step. Also: the safety step wasn't used on american gladiators because it gave the contenders an unfair advantage on the pyramid.

  • @retroflashbackdude Yeah the producers did pull the pyramid out for one season (coz of Jet's injury) while they changed the rules which introduced the safety step

  • this game was very dangerous maybe if they fell into water like they do on games on the sky series it would be less dangerous though.

  • I am so glad this event was stopped. I think it was the most dangerous. Nightshade also got hurt on this event.

  • at 0:40 she is quite clearly saying 'fuck...fuck...'

  • thats what i call a contortionist..glad she is ok now..brings back lovely childhood memories...she was one sexy woman ..hope your enjoying life now panther all the best....

  • she could have broken her neck!

  • 'elf and safety wouldn't allow this to be made now!

  • Great Of Zodiac to support Panther like that. The gladiators were much nicer back then. Yes they had their heated moments with contenders, but they could be themselves and be charcters as well.

None of this bad attuide we get now from the new male glads and endless pouting and dirtylooks from the new female glads.

  • yeah i totally agree the new gladiators hardly were good spots and they always got angry if they lost an event

  • @gazdublin I think it's because they all want to be Wolf.

  • @gazdublin The female glads then were like a big group of sisters - they all looked out for each other :)

  • Panther's fall looked painful, did she turn out okay? (didn't see this series because i was only a newborn baby)

  • she turned out ok and came back for the next 2 series before leavin, now she owns a hairdressers.

  • that's cool

  • lol

  • no she wasn't Panther was the best gladiator of them all

  • i remember this like it was yesterday that was a nasty fall panther was out of action for a couple of weeks after that, well.

  • I remember watching this on tv when it happened, absolutely savage injury.

  • UK gladiators is so much better than the American version, especially the new american version with Hulk Craparse hosting!!!

  • Oooh, I felt that

  • after that accident to panther they had to change the even

and following Nightshade's accident the event

the ropes were no longer attatched to the competitors and a red marker was placed in the middle of the rope. Whoever got the red mark over their table was deemed the winner of the event

But in the end the event was axed and it was the first time that an event had been axed during the UK run.

  • ouch, that was nasty

  • That makes me wince every time I watch it. Absolutely horrific, and watching it on challenge, I was horrified. Poor Panther, so thank God she recovered

  • Did the event get taken out after this? I know it wasn't included in the 1995 Series, very harsh that, its the fact she twists whilst in mid-air and the lads head first!

  • It was included in the 1995 series in heat 8 anyway, maybe more, when Nightshade fell off it backwards and hurt her neck. It was stopped after that

  • Thi event looked too dangerous to be honest, it was ridiculous and it hardly proved anything

  • other than balance,using a weight/position advantage,strength,endurance.nothing at all.

  • Exactly my point xD

  • I hear that in America, they place this event over water in their new series. I think the pool under platforms format is good because it helps to cut down on the number of injuries.

  • I've watched a lot of the new Amerian series' and I've not seen this one featured so I'll keep a close eye on it.

  • I only watch the UK series, but find out which events appear in which version on Wikipedia, as there are of often screenshots of the events.

  • Panther was a fox!

  • panther was a rubbish gladiator she was a nice person though she hardly did any decent games like hang tough and pendulum

  • That has to be the worst injury ever on Gladiators.Did she actually break her neck? She's lucky to be alive after that.

  • No she didnt she made a return once she recovered i think.

  • It would have been so much more appropriate had it been Scorpio

  • I take it you don't like Scorpio?

  • Scorpio's lovely. I was meaning her gimmick is a 'scorpion' which stings by arching its back right over just the way Panther did when she fell

  • Jeez, that's nasty. Brave of her to come back after she recovered.

  • if u break your leg in this game dont come running to me

  • I was horrified when I saw this too I liked Panther and was so relived she was ok. I had a crush on her as a kid.

  • Dam, It's the hair that gets me

  • I remember this when it originally aired, it was the first time I said shit in front of my dad. I was horrified.

  • what happened to her after this happened

  • He returned for the next series (1995) and I think she appeared in 1996 before retiring for good. Think she runs a gym now.

  • Sorry He should read she, tsk tsk. Anyways, she does indeed run a gym now.

  • I saw this on tv today, was brutal.

  • ouch i feel that every time

  • Yeah, see it's dangerous even for top athletes. Lucky she didn't break her neck - sod that people.

  • See children? It's all fun 'till someone losses an eye!! o_o

  • Loved this programme, dont remember seeing this episode though. Glad she was OK

  • It was ahame to see her get hurt but she was a slag & she used to lov e herself. I remember in the first series she used to say she had to practice with the male glads to get a decent match, but in reality she got beaten by most of the girl contenders. Yeah she had big muscles but more normal girls used to level her whilst looking much more xexy than she ever did.

  • I remember this, we were gutted for her.

  • ouchsies :(

  • zodiac is well tastey

  • True but I thought the contender chick on this one was pretty tasty too, nice legs.Lol probably just me though.Oh well.

  • I wouldn't say this incident killed Gladiators. It was still on air for another 5 years after this happened.

  • The day a clasic programme died, such a shame

  • ouch that lukd painful

  • Poor Panther. Hope she recovered.

  • I felt so sorry for her when I saw this.I remember watching it.I was only 10 when this episode first aired and remember being really worried about her.She was was one of the nicest gladiators too, lovely smile and personality.

  • ooooooooooh

    ouchies

  • oh, god. that had to hurt. *cringe*

  • I used to watch it, They don't look so good in daylight.

  • i remember this one! greenalink she was back for the celebrity one and featured in gauntlet in the semi finals (i think!)

  • God I remember this :(

  • so...is she alright after????

  • She had a neck injury there and I think she was back later on in the years.

But that was messed seriously up at 0.32.

  • According to the official website she sustained severe neck and back injuries which put her out of action for five months.

  • Poor Panther. Can't stand watching that one.
