While it is important to keep the abuse of women in daylight, we also need to get the abuse of men out from the dark. Men make up about 40 % of the abused. It simply isn't right to give women all of the attention when men deserve nearly half of it.
People express their concern for domestic violence but they never are concerned about the issue as a whole, only when women are effected.
Stats have shown that men actually report their abuse less then female victims of DV do, and yet men get no sympathy for this fact, they are not even acknowledged.
For the men though that seek help, they are not taken seriously, sometimes ridiculed, and they could even be arrested themselves and not the woman thanks to popular belief.
I honestly think why domestic is such a huge issue at all in the eyes of the public is because women are effected negatively.
Things where men are effected negatively such as making up 80% of all suicides gets little to no recognition. Why, because women are not effected nowhere near as badly as men.
