Here it is Matt Walker (of Smashing Pumpkins late-90's era) who also played drums on Bleed Like Me album and filled in for Butch between June and Sept 2002.. and a few times when Butch wasn't available in Aug 2005.
They also had Matt Chamberlain (Tori Amos) play drums filling in November 2001 and May 2002. He played on a few tracks from BeautifulGarbage.
it's a slightly different arrangement than what's on the CD which isn't uncommon from what i've heard of Garbage live. For this particular performance i'd have to agree that the band was spot on, but i got the distinct impression that there was a different chemistry going on, and wasn't till enossifed pointed out Butch's absence that i knew why.
I completely agree. I think Shirl's voice opened up on Beautiful Garbage and somehow she reached a new level of emotional power behind her singing. The band is right on with this performance.
Interesting this is the case, because I think this was when Butch had nearly died on tour after contracting Hep. A (hence guest dr.), and the making of BG itself saw the beginnings of the band's implosion problems that led to their hiatus after this tour.
It's not just you.Shirley's at the top of her game and the band's musicianship, especially live, shines through .For whatever reason, this song is much better and more powerful live than on the CD.Essentilly,a good song beomes very powerful live.
This is the Concert where Brian Molko (Placebo lead singer) pushed over a table of beer glasses :)
And Shirly has the most beautiful voice :)

And yet, here is greatness at work. :)
