  • Looks like a Ghost-busters to me. watch out for the sea monstors.

  • 29% of the earth is covered by land that you gyes share, the rest belongs to us, Commercial Divers :D

  • How often can you work? and if you have periods of not working are there things you do on the side for income? I think being a deep sea diver offshore like that would be incredibly fun and something I'd enjoy, but like you said I'd be worried about the sporatic working.

  • That helmet looks like its heavy as fuck!

  • @Degenskonto The gas inside makes neutral as soon as you get in the water, don't even feel it then

  • i've noticed commercial divers dont wear a BCD (bouency control device), just wondering how they stay at their desired bouency when doing a job?

  • @mysticleach Most of us have been doing this for awhile so we generally know what we need to ether be heavy to sink or how much we need to be neutral.

for me 5 lbs of lead makes me neutral

  • For all who are asking the pay is crap when averaged out and work is sporatic. It is a dirty thankless job most days.

  • 2:50 usless minutes of my life. Watch ouhter videos here

  • @PriusRider ohh grow-up you pieace of shit

  • Heard that man, we are getting sooo many tenders lately that have no work ethic, attention to detail, or don't take any pride in their work-luckily they will get weeded out.

  • American Faggot....

  • @DRUNKPANDA48 Your channel is interesting, I watched all your "recent activity" and all you do is mouth off, and tell everyone else "they" are do nothing but mouthing off, your a waste of time.

  • easy money !?!? you fuckin crazy..

  • yea i am going into this field next year as an army diver.

  • yea i am going into this field next year as an army diver.

  • hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaa what a joke!!!!

  • @DRUNKPANDA48 well at least you got the name right! other than that you probably don't know me from Adam. As far as calling my self a "cowboy" well your wrong there. a "deep sea diver" yup once again wrong. I am a diver that simple i work underwater nothing special. And enjoy the work i do. Hell there are even a few things underwater I'm pretty good at.

So why should i brag about my work?

Because i need to impress the youngsters?

Nope I just do my job. And try and teach what i can.

  • that guy is a real salty sea dog..gotta love 'em

  • absolutely awsome!!

  • your a dumbass for sayin easy money. fuckin worm

  • @shiznettzzz ok and you were there? It was an easy dive cutting a four inch line @ 65' don't get much easier than that buttnugget!

  • Yeah! Not easy for the first 2-4 years depending on the Company.

  • @shiznettzzz i agree its among the most dangerous jobs in the world a lot of commercial divers die every year from this work and its one of the hardest jobs thier is. fucking easy money what a fuckwit.

  • Actually precision40 I am currently a "lower-than-whale shit" tender fresh outta dive school and I am making $23 an hour. If your making 7 bucks an hour sounds like you are working for the wrong company

  • And for the record yes TC did dive my hat last year.

  • You get paid basically minimum wage for at least 2 years. When you go offshore, they give you an extra $2-$3 per hour for your gear. You DO NOT go right out of dive-school into diving, your a lower-than-whale shit dive-tender. Maybe 10% who actually begin dive school end up being divers. You get paid $7-$10hr for at least 2 years as a dive tender BEFORE they even consider you as a diver.

  • @precision40 in south louisiana most dive companys' pay tenders 10 fo shop pay and 16 for offshore . (overrtime included) not bad for new out of school tenders. many of whom clear 1200 a week after taxes

  • I've heard a few times that underwater welding careers don't last long due to "the gases". I'm a diver and know how to weld above water, and this "the gases" explanation doesn't make sense to me at all. Is this some old wives tale? Is there a limit of how long one can do this career?

  • @moiandtoi there is a limit to how much one can dive very deep, I don't know about welding but I know you can only dive really deep so many times before it will kill you.

  • @MidnightRayn , you obviously don't know what you are talking about. physics and physiology doesn't change its science. learn basic diving physics before you decide to speak up about it.

  • @mattwalz learn basic manners before totting off like a cock sucker.

  • roughly how much do you make?? how much of training? please reply..im really intrested in this job!

  • Well said DiverDown!!

  • im glad to hear some people loving there work, im in the process of applying to divers academy international for underwater wet welding and burning, it seems like something that will keep me going and interested for years to come, like a challenge

  • how much do u get paid, i really would love to do this and what does it do to ur body if there is any effects

  • ok first off if you have to ask how much i make in a job i love thinking maybe you want to give it a shot....then dont bother wasting your money at the schools.

I make enough money to keep my family fed and a roof over their heads. Some years its great some years we barely make it buy. And personally i don't want some one who does not LOVE this job to be on deck with me because all they think about is the next pay-check or the next beer.

I'm here to make a living and do the best job possible.

  • @DiverDown62014 good speach haha i agree totally

  • Hi, I have a salary question. Can you tell me who you work for and around how much you make a year. If you don't want to give exact digits then can you say like between [25k & 50k] or [50k & 75k]. I can't get any straight answer elsewhere so Thanks for your time!

  • Ok, one comment and one question....

Comment : If you are only wearing a wetsuit 2 months out of the year, you are doing some seriously shallow dives.

Question : What? No Big Chief?

  • LOL Big Chief are you kidding? Not on my rig. don't feel like digging a blade out of my leg when climbing a ladder.

and someone has to work the 100ft or less levels.good bottom time with little deco

I'm more than willing to leave the gas diving to the kids who want them.

  • Do you wear flippers?

  • Depends on what I'm doing

most of the time i don't.

  • When you live it ... then you can come here . Until then you can step down from your soap box.

He's right about numbers though. Caldive has a lot of employees so it would have more accidents. It's a dangerous job when you work offshore you better realize that or get hurt/die.

There is such a thing as being so safe that you wouldn't be able to do that job.

  • Must be GOM. Fucking cowboys. Nice bailout check and why was the diver having ear troubles BEFORE the dive?

  • coming from some assclown that has NO videos that means alot.

its called clearing your ears to make sure that they clear on the way down.

as far as the bailout check yup you have me there.

so i hope you enjoy your job where ever it may be under a desk and stay there while us "cowboys" do what we love.

I still have all of my fingers an toes and have nether been bent or bent or have bent anyone.

I play a safe game but i have fun and so do the professionals around me.

  • I love the GOM 90% of the divers that work here were that badge with pride.

if it wasn't for the "cowboys" of the GOMs shaded past the rest of the world would STILL be pushing buggy's and using horses to get around.

So next time you put your key in your car and start to head to your bosses desk maybe you should thank a "Cowboy" for exploring the depths of the gulf and doing his small part in helping the world move past the stone age

  • you know i havnt watched that vid in a long time. guess what dumbass if you watch closely when my right hand reaches behind my back what do you think i was doing? maybe charging the whip?hmmmm shut up and get back under the desk.

  • Fair enough. I wasn't necessarily criticising your diving techniques. I've only been diving for 8 years or so. As I understand it the GOM still kills more divers for unsafe practices than anywhere else in the world. I'm surprised you even have a bailout on.

  • So basically what your saying is that you know SHIT about the GOM and the divers that work here? CalDive is who kills more divers than anyone and last i checked the work world wide.

But you also have to look at where the most divers work at as well.

if you have a place that has 1000 divers and one that has 1000000 divers and for some unfortunate reason 1 dies at both places which one is unsafer?

Sounds like your jealous of us "cowboys" because you would never make it here.

  • Never make it there? The kind of diving you guys do is recreational diving compared to what I dive in. Try 4c water with 0 viz. You're right about me being jealous about the diving conditions. Just not the area.

  • LOL to hell with diving in cold water you can have it.

0 viz well bud we have that down here too.

the way i see it if there is ice on the water its Gods way of saying take the day off!

Ice water is for beer and sodas not this diver! THAT is why i love the GOM!

Wet suit for about 2 months out of the year rest of the time jeans and t-shirts.

hell even in Houston in winter i think about going back to school.

  • besides its not the water that you dive in that makes the diver.

Its the work we do that makes US divers

whether its 2 foot or 2000 foot inland or offshore. We dive to work no matter how deep or how bad the vis.i don't do cold and it sounds like you know very little about where i dive.I admit I know nothing about where you work other than it WAY to danm cold for me.

But at the same time you judge me for a video about me enjoying my job and having fun while i do it.

  • Yes I admit. I don't know how how things are handled down there. I have just been warned by many to not dive the GOM. I have been looking to go overseas this year and try some of that warm stuff out. lol

  • if your a trained naval diver along wit the civilian certs what kind of money are u roughly lookin at, because im hearin crazy money from some people and fairly average from others. some divers say the big money is gone in commercial diving.

  • Diving can be a very lonely career, Be prepared for spending months away from your family, fighting everyday with guys you thought were your family, and feeling like shit all the time from being bent to shit everyday :) But you'll have lot's of money to spend in some bar in Malaysia, watching Muay Thai fights on a black and white T.V, all by yourself.

  • haha

  • Do you breathe the air thats pumped inside the helmet or is there a mouthpiece in the helmet you have to breathe with?

  • is work in divin hard to find

  • the post glory days of katrina are almost gone. Its easy to find a "job" but the amount of work that they may have might not be much.

Over seas might be better but it seams like most of the offshore companys in the GOM are holing on to their wallets to see where the "Oboma" administration is going to strike next.

    Gotta love change!

  • Yeah looked into it big time like two years ago, there is way more divers than there is work, but from what I learned from talking to some older guys that have been in the business for awhile, said become a Navy Diver and when you get out you will be in the Fraternity so to speak and you will have more oppurtunity

  • no. becoming a navy diver will not help your career as an offshore diver. you still have to go to school and you still have to tend

  • Some "Navy Divers" have to retrain for the oil patch. Some make it some dont

Remember the Navy has a ton of money for their diving projects as in the civilian world we are expected to keep cost down and production up.

  • seems like im stuffed either way, im currently leaving the royal marines at age 28 and was either going to do close protection work or com diving. i thought there would be plenty of work with oil companys hardly feeling the economic downturn? dammit road sweeping here i come...

  • Easy?

  • Do you wear flippers when you are a comemrical diver?

  • according to manual you dont but the different jobs have several conditions you may use it if you need to

  • how do you equalize

  • Im one of the lucky ones that equalize with ease I normally only need the clearing block if i have a head cold

  • am i suposed to be impressed. you guys oviously work in much better conditions then real divers. get a life man and stop posting this crap

  • i smell a chip on someones shoulder. im a diver in the north sea wouldnt be caught dead without a proper dry suit, a wooly bear, a warm jumper and some warm thoughts. those 27s are nice to dive in really comfy. nice vid

  • Thank god i don't need a dry suit in the GOM! The water out here doesn't get that cold for long.

  • put it this way they can make up to £150,000 a year. some can make £1000 in a good days work

  • thats a sat diver who makes that much a whole different kettle of fish. living in a small tin can with up to five other people for 3-4 weeks.

  • how much money those guys make?

    per month or year

  • hope not ! im 41 and giving it serious thought . alot of cash to get started but the crack looks good and the work looks hard but rewarding . bring it on !!

  • i have a question am i to old to be a comercial scuba diver i am 32 years old.????

  • lol there is no such thing as a commercial scuba diver scuba is sep. from commercial diving but no as long as ur in great shape u can do it

  • Go for it that's ruffly the right age to start.

  • hardcore. No hatliner

  • I was thinking there wasn't one either. I think it's just a black snoopy. It would be retarded without one!

  • yea its a black snoopy with the neck ring cut out. it just makes it easier to cam the hat with nothing hanging down, and it gives a little more room in those small 27s.

  • I hear that. I sold my 27 and got a brand new 37 with a superflow 450 reg on it . Love it

  • that was great...need to see more! love, your fave sis
