  • great song spoilt by a smiling fat chick at the end

  • WHAT THE HELL? I've just realized that it's "A winters tale". Spent the last 20 years thinking that it was "A Winters Day". Literally all my life I sing day where he sings tale.

    My christmas is over.

  • david essex great artist n actor xxxxx

  • brilliant song always has been and timeless x

  • this is really nice

  • Coseepo, brilliant choices but what about The pogues and Kirsty Maccoll?

  • Just heard this on Corrie & have fallen in love with this song

  • still as gorgeous now as back then.. such a lovely song to all those who have loved and lost x

  • Such a beuatiful song ,at the same time very sad for those with broken hearts

over Chtritmas.David oh what a gorgeous man.Is there any hope for me I'm 61

Saddly not am happily married for 40 yrs.love you all the same

  • This makes me well up every time...just gorgeous.

  • reminds me of stuff i cudnt possibly tell on here lol so emotional stuff though :(

  • As I've said before the music from 60s to early 85 was just that music not cocophany

like today. This is one absolute classic from David wish they would play it more at Christmas rather than BONEY M am so sick of their music.I think Buddy Holly,Elvis

Little Richard ,am sure there were more started the revolution bless them but

the 60's were the era that did it for all of us.

  • Hopefully with David Essex now in Eastenders, the comeback starts now.An absolute legend and a lovely bloke

  • reminds me of a party I was invited to by a girlfriend who had not asked her parents if i could attend. On arrival they told me to go home. It was snowing and cold NO buses were running so a 7 mile walk was for me. As I left the house this song was playing. Laugh now but not then. Nice song after I thawed out

  • Rita in Corrie sang it yesterday..brought a tear to my eye :)

  • ... when David Essex was HOT...HOT....HOT.... lovely song.... tugs at the old heart strings for 'the one that got away' x

  • NUMBER 111111111111111111111111111111111111111

  • "A love that could never be, though it meant alot to you and me"...reminds me of one of my ex relationships...

  • only with Christmas a winter's tale...such a lovely song...

  • very nice on the ear and on the old heart strings. very nice orchestral production.

  • Great song, even better video. Thanks for posting.

  • No one will ever beat David Essex when it comes to this song. I can't stand any other version of this song. It's so beautiful and so sad :D

  • love it x

  • A real class Christmas song, up there with the ali-time Christmas classics,

    Patrick (Ireland)

  • and why should the world take notice of another love thats failed...:(((

  • LOVE THIS thankuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • The Pogues & Kirsty I guess...

...or 'Falling over at home for Christmas'...gulp...LOL.

  • Absolutely superb!

The production, orchestra, David's voice, just about everything about it.

My second-favourite Christmas tune, but only just lagging behind.

  • whats ur most favourite

  • I never understood why it was used as a Christmas song. Christmas isn't even mentioned in it, and it's hardly the most cheerful of songs! Winter is being used here as a metaphor for the death of a relationship. I love it anyway, though.

  • Absolutely beautiful! Brings back so many memories & David Essex was gorgeous!

  • Not so "easy listening" when you're so far away from a loved one :o/

    ..but thanks for sharing.

  • @EvilCensor True. :( But its still so beautiful. x
