This is such good music on this album... It's such a shame that Bain came back into the band. His playing is so bloody boring... Sure the finished product sounds good, but the bass is so bloody boring.  Too bad Pilson or whoever was on Angry Machines didn't stay around. He had some style.

@DarkWolf5250 I just like his work. He played on all my favorite Dio albums. He's not flashy, but he adds to the music. I just think his style fits very well with Dio. I like his work on the Live at Donington album too. I will agree his basslines are super interesting on Magica, but I think they fit and it works. I will admit that Pilson's playing on Strange Highways was excellent and I haven't listened to Angry Machines so I don't know how he does on that. I like them both, but I prefer Bain.

@Freebyrd1991 I definitely recommend Angry Machines. After Dream Evil or Lock Up the Wolves, it is probably my favourite Dio album. The bass lines... I'm a bass player, so I enjoy hearing something interesting, and if I want to learn to play a song, I don't like just learning a boring thing. Bain isn't flashy, but I will admit I love what he does with Sunset Superman... Awesome. His tone is cool... I just wish he did more interesting licks.

@TheNuclearPistol All albums? I do too... With an exception. I love all the ones I've heard except Sacred Heart... For some reason that one irritates me. Master of the Moon is okay, but not great, but all the other albums I've heard (which is everything except Strange Highways) is amazing... And I love his work with Rainbow and Sabbath.

@ChapaczNorek I've been listening to that album all week now. Great stuff. Still, I don't really understand why poor old Angry Machines is hated on so much. I think it's easily as good as SH, probably better in my opinion... But that's just me. Anyways, these two are my favourite albums. Master of the Moon rapes too... Excellent shit. Just had to grow on me.
