@shoeprich2012 You play 1st trombone? awesome~ I play 2nd part; third chair. But I've been allowed to play parts of this wonderful song because I'm the only trombone able to hit those high notes and be in tune. XD We'll be performing this at a college in Febuary; joint concernt. :3
@shoeprich2012 Particularly after playing two other high level songs; Linconshire Posey and White Rose March. We're playing those two, as well as Machu Piccu, at Spring Festival. XD
@dotsed Probably because the F horns are louder; so they're heard over the Euphoniums, and not everyone is able to make out the difference between horn and euphonum parts.
Wow, took out the 1st trumpet lick at 04:15. This is supposed to be an all-state band! You can't take out parts, especially an exposed solo part. Very disappointed in whoever was 1st chair trumpet.
@kml408 I know me too!! Very disappointing. We're playing this song for contest and we hardly rehearse because we are playing alot more difficult music including Childrens March and the Enigma Variations. Our 1st chair trumpet player missed the TMEA All-State Band by like three chairs and he can play it the solo the second time we rehearsed it! Oh well luckily hes only a junior so theres always next year.
@11heck11 You guys have to understand that it wasn't the trumpet players fault at all. The conductor was the one that cut it out. Everyone knows that any trumpet player in an all state band is perfectly capable of playing that part.
I played this piece last year in our high school's wind ensemble (euphonium), and it's awesome. And this conductor conducts like a boss.

@kml408 I was in this group, and I was so annoyed when they took out the trumpet solo...it made the transition so awkward :(
