  • Who are some of your biggest influences? You sound great by the way. :)

  • @synnthesized82 Thanks. I don't know about influences, but I have listened to just about every type of music except for opera and rap. Over the years I have listened to lots of jazz (Weather Report, Dave Grusin), hard rock (Van Halen, Metallica), prog rock (Yes, Jethro Tull), electronica (Crystal Method, Chemical Bros), and nearly everything in between. :)

  • You used the little phatty as midi keyboard? My would-really-like-to-have-dream-machine?Shame on you ;)

  • Congratulations. Sounds awesome. Especially the Strings on the Moog. Keep Going!

  • Great song!!! Great vid!!!! If was completely blind, I could still pic the Virus TI out of the group. The sound is so smooth and organic sounding. can't afford one yet, but someday.

  • this such a wicked tune! LOVE IT! XD

  • start solo extra

  • i love this tune so much keybdwizrd

  • Thanks, it has been quite popular. By the way, an MP3 version is on my website under the Music tab.

  • LOVE that pad sound:) And gret to see you improvise and play the whole thing. My favorite way of working:)

  • Is this one stero or mono

    (Good pice of music)

and yes you are verry tallented!

  • Amazing vids, your well tallented!!!!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • The bass sound is pretty wicked. It's from the micro Korg, yes?

  • The Korg Micro X.

  • really cool

  • intense!!!!!

  • That is a GREAT composition! I want to play it, so can you help?

What sound were you using for lower keyboard on left, loved it, and the upper keyboard on right, what kind was that and what sound? Given that, I will be able to reproduce. Also do you know the chord progressions off hand, and the key signature? Thanks much! Great music!

Also, please check out my STAC, because that's what I want to play your song on.

  • The keyboard on the lower left is actually triggering a COMBI program on the Korg Micro X, which is the synthesizer above it. I don't recall the name of the COMBI, but it is a factory preset on the Micro X.

The keyboard on the upper right is an Access Virus TI. As I recall, that patch is called "Manfman" but I edited the factory preset.

I improvised this song on the spot for the video. Looking at my fingers, it seems to be in A minor. The chords are mostly Am, F, C, G, etc.

  • THANKS SO MUCH for your reply! I really appreciate it!

    Grant

  • man what a sweeet way to use the moog honestly dumb me never tought of it.. and it's gonna be fun to use that beast on a event as a controller with my motif xs.. :) allways simple but super cool smart stuff. thanks again..

  • Yes, even though the Moog is monophonic, it transmits polyphonic MIDI data.

  • Wicked sound! I could listen to this all day. Superb job. I really love the pads!! 5 stars!

  • Absolutely wonderful!! Great sound!!

  • Thank you very much!

  • I hope you are still jammin man. That set up looks so fun but way too expensive for someone like me.

    Mahalo!

  • very well done. nice progression of textures. very mellow. THAT'S how you enjoy your rig.

  • Congratulations, very good instruments and very good interpretation, Regards Manuel.

  • Thanks.

  • If I heard this playing on a CD in a music store I would have bought it!

  • thanks very mutch, were can i find the notes about it? you have longer version ?Special the sound on the Moog? Gr Jankees538

  • If you're looking for a written musical score of it, I am sorry but none exist. This piece is just something I improvised when the camera was running. I haven't even played it since.

  • Hallo,do you know who was writing this song? Thanks

  • I wrote this song.

  • very good profesion

  • Mann du bist sechr GUT!!!

Ich glaube das ich mir neuen keyboard bzw.vokoder kaufe Grüß Rafael

  • good stuff. your setup is lookin nice. i have to ask, what is that yellow thing in your rack? -shujincell

  • It's a Waldorf Micro Q rack synth, which I have since sold.

  • powerful equipment! i think my next investment will be a analog synth. was considering the andromeda A6 synth. but now access, dave smith and waldorf are starting to win me over. looking for a powerful, feature rich device. i really appreciate your videos...it seems like companies want you to spend big money on a device you cant even hear in-store. at least where im from. i need a true synthesizer. -shujincell

  • Mmmm, That lead on the ti polar is amazing.

    Good job as usual =)

  • Hey Keybdwizard, this is really beautiful. What a lay out and arrangement of sounds on this live performed composition. Very nice contrasting sections. I really love and enjoy this one very much. Cheers from ObeeLektro.

  • No, but you can download it from soundclick com / michaelwalthius

  • Thanks man..Just THANKS!!!!!

  • Virus TI.

  • If you could only keep one synth which one would it be?

  • Hey Michael, The Moog LP is triggering the Korg, but LP is Mono, does it transmit poly MIDI out or am I seeing that incorrectly? thanks..JB

  • Yes, the Moog keyboard is polyphonic when using it to play another synth via MIDI.

  • wow, this is amazing man! I'm impressed!

  • Nice setup. The Virus TI Polar is on my wish list. I got a Little Phatty Stage, an S90es, Korg Ms2000b, Korg Triton LE 61, and my newest addition The Roland VP-550 Vocoder Synth. You should check out the VP-550 it is so awesome! Keep rokn

  • Man, you totally rock! You have excellent boards.

  • Man, you totally rock! You have excellent boards.

  • Thank you!

  • Very nice. My favorite work of yours has always been "Under the Moon."

  • Thanks... wow, that song is a blast from the past!

  • This is VERY COOL! Very well arranged. Quite original!

  • Thank you.

  • this is my favorite song ever

  • Which preset sound of the Micro Korg did you choose?

And which Audiointerface have you got to connect all your synthis to transmit audiosignals to your computer?

  • I don't recall what preset I used (and perhaps edited) on the Micro X. I use an M-Audio Duo USB audio interface.

  • Awesome!

I bought FL-Studio some time ago and I also bought Morphine. But I can`t get started..well, just a little bit like

I Carge SMP, test it and then?

It would be awesome if you could make a

small tutorial on how to get started with Morphine. Thank you! Thomas

  • I was just wondering why you use that korg for the bass part and not the moog. from what i've heard, the moog would do a much better job. It sounds awesome anyways though!

  • Most synths are capable of perfectly fine bass parts, and the Moog is no exception.

  • I love this theme

  • i cant understand one keyboard enough to play, your room is too much for my brain! :P

  • Holy crap. I passed this along to many of my band members. Awesome stuff! Wish I could play like this.

  • yet another tune from kbdwzrd that's better than a lot of what I hear on the radio ...

  • Great texture mate very nice!

  • You are a genius!!!!!

  • Wowo, great job. I heard your XG midi sequences and they're great but seeng you perform live is siply amaizing.

  • Thank you!

  • sweetness! Are you using the waldorf for this tune? I miss my polar :( I went for the TI Keyboard hehe good jog man!

  • No Waldorf in this one...

  • fantastic work as always.

i like you have a virus polar and they are great!

    Cheers

  • You should check out Reason. Pretty much does everything without hardware.

  • Thanks, but I love hardware. :)

  • YES YES YES!!! I absolutely LOVE THIS piece.

Your work is totally top notch! Would you consider licensing something down the road for an audio product, such as a 15 second - 28 second intro with 3 second transitional "stabs" to break up the talking sections? GLORIOUS and Tight; I simply love this piece! And those bass lines...

  • Thanks,send me an email.

  • Fantastic music - really catchy and funky. Great Talent and is there an extended version i.e. longer than the current 2:23mins i.e. maybe 3 or 4 mins because that would be fabulous - keep those great music coming!

  • Fantastic stuff....i would pause the drum machine somewhere in the middle...perhaps a more distorted lead...keep it up, i really like your work

  • veryy beutiful song..

  • simply amazing!

  • I agree with LINN. undeniable talent. Tasteful use of sounds and textures, sophisticated chord changes. And can ya tell, he's groovin to it too. Oh, and it's live.

  • very cool ! cool equipment ! great work, keep it up

  • hey! sorry to bug you, but in the beginning you were playing some pads on the moog phatty. i thought it was monophonic only! is it or whats the deal? lol

  • The Moog is monophonic. I am using it's keyboard to trigger different synthesizers.

  • ah duh!! midi i didnt think about that. idk... im a sucker for analog pads. thx anyways

  • Hei Michael,

    tank you very much.

I don't understand but i am crazy when i listen to your Neon Dance! very strange and wonderful.

Your demo's on the acces virus polar give me very much inspiration for to make music and to learn my instruments: Kurzweil K2600; Motif6 and Yamaha SY99.

It's only a few weeks that i know this beautiful site" youtube".

    greetz!

  • man u got talent u know wot ur doing, u should make some mp3s i want this song

  • Go to the Music page at my website - you'll find an MP3 of Neon Dance. Enjoy!

  • Is it perhaps possible for to make an MP3 from these great song on your website please?

    tnkx!

  • I don't know, maybe you could rip the audio out of the video and convert it.

  • Go to the Music page at my website - you'll find an MP3 of Neon Dance. Enjoy!

  • awesome stuff - you should work for access in their marketing department, probably sold as many virus ti's with your vids as they did.

  • Thanks. :)

  • This song is a very great favoriet of mine!!

  • i know this sounds stupid.. but i like both virus TI and Micro X i wanna start using a good keyboard, what would you recomend? and this is random but how much are the virus and micro?

  • These are two very different instruments. The Virus TI is a very powerful synthesizer - probably one of the best ever engineered - price is north of $2500 USD new. Micro X is a portable keyboard - very inexpensive ($649 USD). Differences are beyond what I can write here, but if you Google both you can likely find reviews.

  • well seeing how you are a wizard at this haha. what would you say i should get to start out? i have a lame like 60 dollar one that doesnt really do anything. no beats, it doesnt have like that wammy bar like knobs and its just.. i dont know. i want something semi good to start out on.

  • I love it and am glad you only play original music, keep it up buddy

    Rob

p.s. You look like you've probably been playing keyboard as long as I've played drums..???

  • I started playing the piano when I was six, which was (cough, cough) 43 years ago.

  • I knew you were a seasoned pro like (cough cough0 myself....

    LOL

    Great playing, loveit 1!

  • This is robdrums69 replying by the way, sorry, using someone elses account here. it's me that's looking for a copyof neon dance. you canreachme at robdrums @ xcelco . on . ca

    Let me know, thanks

    rob

  • Well I don't have an MP3 of it myself... It's probably possible, somehow, to download the stereo Quicktime version of the video from my website, rip the audio from it, and then convert to MP3.

  • Go to the Music page at my website - you'll find an MP3 of Neon Dance. Enjoy!

  • Nice tune, and nice playing. Intro could use help, and the rhythm track is too stagnant, but this is good stuff.

  • It sounds like a little bit Italo Disco.

    Thank you!

  • Well, I don't know what Italo Disco is, but.... GREAT! COOL! :)

  • truly well worth watching, great key boards skills, keep em coming,

  • Outstanding Wiz! Shades of Deep Forest, Tomita, Alan Parsons... yet all you. Very intoxicating rhythms & pads.

  • Thank you!!!

  • beautiful. It motivates me when I hear good tunes such as this. I play the Roland RS-70, I think the virus TI would be a great keyboard to add.

  • Just amazing. you should come up with an album :p

  • keybdwizrd you're my idol!

  • very nice,really,really great stuff!!!

  • Sounds warm, ambient, and melodic. Very cool!

  • Thanks!

  • I should have read your post about only using the Moog as a controller. Sorry! Interesting that a monophonic instrument can still send a polyphonic MIDI signal. Wouldn't have guessed...

  • No problem. In a MIDI setup where any keyboard can play any other synth in the setup (including softsynths), I should find a better way to communicate exactly what is playing what! L)

  • How is the Little Phatty being used to play a polyphonic pad though? I detect a bit of shenanigans!

  • Man, to have a studio like that'd be a dream come true!

  • very beautiful your music!!! FANTASTIC!!!

  • ah trance iducing and quite a work of art. great job wizrd!

  • I love little Moog!!! it sounds awesome!!!

  • Thanks, but actually I am using it to play both the Korg and the Yamaha. The sounds are coming from those two keyboards, and not the Moog.

  • Mike + DocT...best...demos...evaaaah.

  • Thank you!

  • nice pads

  • Very nice!
