I have cried over the keyboard when I played this mission the first time while trying to save all the cryotrays with my clouded eyes. HW was the best game ever made and it was more than a decade ago.

It was deeply emotional, absolute involvement. I felt like I was one of they, There was rage in me every time I had to fight for MY survival and for MY kind.

Today the visuals are still ok but dull and very angular but beautiful.

Back in 1999 it was a mind blowing stunning game.

And you felt so helpless on this mission, fighting off the remaining enemies with just a bunch of shit fighters and low level frigates. Made it all the more sweeter during the final mission when you had a fucking armada

Correction, all Homeworld games work in XP, but might require some fiddling(don't ask what, i haven't ran XP in 2 years.) They actually work better in Vista/Windows 7 for some reason, with usually nothing needed to be done. I had all 3 games on my shitty XP laptop and they ran fine.

As for difficulty, Cataclysm is definitely the easiest game out of all 3; still good but i wouldn't rate it above the rest. It has some very welcome added features though.

@doyouknowmeidont The cryo tray contains 100000 cryo pods, in it there are sleaping people. The Mothership started with a little number of crew. During the journey, sleepers have been awakened, trained quickly to replenish fallen operators. This was another untold and tragic story.

It's not one of the best space RTS games....it is THE BEST space RTS that was ever made. When it first appeared in 1999 this game simply struck me with its sheer awesomeness. They will never make a game like this, not in 2011 or 2012. And i seriously hope i'll be proven wrong. Hope THQ will make a decent sequel.

I must say - one of the best games I ever played and possibly the most emotional mission ever... but WHY did you lose two containers? I actually had to rescue all survivors because of the emotional tune of this mission, which wouldnt let me let 100000 people die! And its not that hard to get those ships before they destroy any containers...

Oh god. Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2 are my favourite games ever. I don't think I do myself any favours by pining over the development of a third game. A couple of times a year I will google "Homeworld 3" and feel a little empty inside for the lack of updates on the front.

They all owe it to this game.

The gameplay was awesome, the music was awesome, the ships were all awesome, the story was awesome, but what REALLY stuck with me was how the voice-actors were almost PERFECT. They sucked you in, and your emotions played a huge role in your involvement in the game. I loved the intel officers voice. You get the feel you know this officer both personally as well as professionally and share his emotions. GREAT game.

"Adagio" is the saddest piece of music according to a BBC poll. But Homeworld starts and ends with the vocal version "Agnus Dei" and therefore the vocal version is used in the Kharak level as well.

Adagio is too depressive, even for this level. Agnus is a shred of hope and the game continues...and in the end Hiigara is theirs.
