Whether someone agrees with the age difference or not, if the law states a 17 yr old can make an informed decision to have sexual relations with someone over the age of 17, regardless how much older, then there should not have been such a witch hunt.

Hannity is trying to imply that the Democratic party applauded Gerry Studds' sexual misconduct. But just because some local democratic supporters (and most likely gay rights activists) give him a standing ovation after he retired (YEARS after the scandal), that's not the same thing as the DEMOCRATIC PARTY ENDORSING HIS BEHAVIOR IN THAT SCANDAL, which is exactly what Hannity is trying to imply. Coulter and Hannity make a living muddying the water of the discussion. They do so by changing the subject and by making logically outrageous statements. People get fooled into arguing with them in attempt to clarify their own position, but by then the damage is done. The audience is dragged into this diversion, and if they are sympathetic to rightwing causes, will either echo what the pundits say, or will turn off all together. Either way, truth suffers, and Coulter & Hannity just laugh.
