I still think that even if she was skinny & delivered this perfectly... she still would have hit headlines the next day for the performance not being up to the standard of her previous performances. They would have praised the fact that she seems to be doing better, but still would have pointed out that she didn't meet the high expectations everyone had in mind. All her previous VMA performances hit headlines for being shocking & iconic. A crotch grope & tit grope wasn't going shock anyone tbh.

O_O that was fucking awful! she was extremely stiff and moved like she'd been sprayed down with starch before they dragged her up there to start dancing! and the lip synching was just........my god! but regardless we all have our hard times in life and celebs are no exception. Nossa, foi a pior apresentação da Brit que eu já vi. Não pq ela esta com um pouco de sobrepeso, mas por ela estar em fase de recuperação. Ela não consegue dançar nem se concentrar no que está fazendo. =\ E, coitada, ela parecia estar tão sem graça e perdida. Mas foi um ótimo recomeço! Olha como ela está agora!!

actually, she made so many iconic performances in the VMAs, and this is what she gave? it was really disappointing though. but, at the same time, she was at a very difficult situation, she was in one of the darkest phase in life. If i were her manager, i would either ask her to wear some clothes on to dance, OR, not to perform on stage. she's clearly not ready to be put back in the spotlight at that time. but, the past is the past, britney is stronger than yesterday, now is nothing but her way~

Loved this performance, and I'm not just saying that as some kind of apologist. I think the drunken, slouching, overdose-y vibe is absolutely perfect for this incredible song. It's like entering a whorehouse and having your drink spiked. Britney is fucking amazing. She makes everything magic.

You know, the performance isn't as bad as people were saying it were. At times, she totally rocked the dance. Other times, it looked like she just zoned out, and then snapped out of it. The problem is Britney is an amazing performer, and people held her up to high expectations. Espically for the MTV VMAS. The last 3 times she stripped, danced with a snake, and kissed Madonna. Overall, I thought she did a pretty good job.
