This song IS great, the reason many people don't like it is due to it not being in the original version of the movie. The fact of the matter is if they had kept it in the original movie no one would have a problem with it, honestly I dont know what people are talking about when they say it ruins it. In my opinon it just makes the movie all the better and shows the difference of ruler all the more not to mention Simba acting like a child.

I was quite upset when I bought the DVD and found the song added in. I really don't think it adds anything, the original scene was a sweet interaction between Simba and Mufasa, teaching him how to pounce. That's what added to the saddness later. The Lion King already had a great set of songs, I don't know why they felt the need to add this in!

If you look at the Zazu from Timon and Pumbaa, that guy didn't try to imitate Rowan, the second Lion King was ehhh...

I honestly love both versions of the movie, with and without the morning report scene. The fresh animation is nice and Simba's new voice is adorable and not that far off from his original singing voice.

Now they gotta release a special edition with the deleted scenes remastered and finished for the Lion King 2 since they fit well in the story. Better than without in my opinion.

I'm returning 2 purchases I made of them to Amazon because I heard there's no way around hearing this god-awful song on that DVD version and it pissed off a lot of fans (me included). You guys have to understand: It was DELETED from the theatrical version, never made it past story board phase. It was added FOR the special edition as something fun that would offer people a chance to see the entire original conception of the film. The reason Simba sounds so different is, the scene was animated and voiced simply for the special addition, with a new young man providing the voice for the scene. It's a tacky, unnecessary scene, but it's cute to look at, so quitcha bitchin', folks.

I was very little when this movie came out, and I'm also an artist very interested in film and the creative process behind making them. So for me, this scene is very cool to look at: It's a cute moment, and I think it's very cool to be given the oportunity to see this sequence the way it was originally concieved.
