The woman Eva, use to be an opera singer born into nobility. She was adored until the day she lost her voice. She then went slightly insane and homesick of her forgotten past. Before she died she created a "ghost" of her life. This "ghost" traps victims with her illusions and keeps them captive until their death.... Watch the movie, its great.

Kevin Caldwell remains one of the greatest AMV artists ever. I saw this video in 1998 at AX while watching AMVs the night before the winners would be announced- dressed in the red Magnetic Rose dress. Then, entries were anonymous. During voting for Action/Adventure, Drama and Comedy, unbeknownst to anyone, Caldwell swept every category. I was going to present him the award, but he went mysteriously absent. He appeared in other contests, made even more amazing videos, but this was his watershed.

Ya this is Harajuku, not Apotheosis... it's the same one on Techno Trax Vol. 5 on ZYX. Apotheosis never did Phantom of the Opera!
