Thank you so much for this excellent posting! Every since GOOGLE took over YOUTUBE they have ruined the site. I had a page with many uploads with just over 4 million hit's. My page with many clean uploads and hundreds of other YOUTUBE members were deleted abruptly because of GOOGLE and it's millionaire owners. I'm hoping that GOOGLE doesn't try to take over FACEBOOK and ruin that site also!
Google has taken over YouTube and will stop at nothing to squeeze out every cent of profit it can, its users' viewing experience be damned. First the acquisition, then the unneccesary changes to the user interface, then the ads. The last straw for me was when I was logging in one day and Google stepped in front of me and said oh, you cannot access the YouTube account you own unless you create a Google account, because we said so. F*** you!!! Google is one of the few things I HATE.

I'm a little torn on the issue. On one hand, Google has the financial backing to fix a lot of the technical issues that have been plaguing this site for so long. On the other hand, Google Video is notorious for pulling material that is controversial or that contains copyrighted content that still falls under "fair use". Scary stuff. The only reason we say youtube is for US, is because of the current buisness model it follows. The people make youtube because of the way it's set up. That doesn't neccissarily mean that model won't change. Perhaps only slightly, or maybe in several stages. But the end result could be anything under the rainbow.
