If you're judging on the basis of a cover song then this one is way better than Evans Blue's version, which didn't relate to the original other than the words. If you throw that out the window completely and forget about Sarah then I'd probably still go with SES. It just seems to have more power to it, wish there was a real video.

As far as guitar work goes, this version is excellent. As far as the song itself goes, I gotta give this thumbs down. I hate to sound like a High School drama teacher, but these words are the passionate, yet disturbed words of a stalker. Evan's version really sounds like John Hinkley is singing it, I actually believe that it is the stalker. Sarah's version is the ironic woman singing the stalker's poem. This version just sounds like an immature teen who doesn't know what he is talking about.

Evans blues singer has a smoother voice than sean, and his tone is pretty on key. But as much as I hate to say it Evans Blue is slightly generic. Smile Empty Soul is raw, heart-felt alternative punk music. How music should be. This cover is a close second to Sarahs orig.
