man, i remember this commercial. i went 2 epcot 4 the 1st time in 2000, and been 5 more times since then (i've been 2 WDW 10 times altogether)! very cool...
@SimiSoprano Spaceship Earth is still there. I imagine it would be pretty hard to get rid of it. I don't remember Epcot like this but I'm only 20 but I do remember Spaceship Earth from one of my first trips. Now I live in FL and go all the time and its a must ride.
The first enhacment you will find is they have placed a touchscreen on your vehicle. Secondly, They have placed a flash camera onto the the tunnel as your vehicle first begins going up at the beginning of the ride " that overhead camera in the tunnel is to take a face picture of you ".
Thirdly, They will ask you miltiple choice questions on your touchscreen about what you like or imagine doing, and then they put that all together and show it as a personalized cartoon that is a prediction of what your life might look like in a city of the future and the picture that they take of your face becomes the head of the character in the little personalized cartoon.
Plus, here is the one thing that I left out . At the beginning of the ride as your vehicle goes up in the tunnel, they show a map of the globe and ask you where you live at. Note: in all the questions they ask you you touch certain spot(s) on the screen to answer the questions when they ask you the questions.
After you get off the ride vehicle, they have a globe where the picture of your face will show up on the spot that you live at.
BTW, at the end of the ride where they have the globe is also a central spot where they have touchscreens that allow you to find and email your personalized cartoon shown to you on the ride to your email address as a video postcard from the future DIRECT from Walt Disney World.

Epcot was amazing, went there with my music instructor! Captian Eo was the best part!

@blondiekraut It was shortened to just Epcot in 1996. It was Epcot Center until 1993, then was called Epcot '94 and Epcot '95 during those years.

Spaceship Earth is still there. They just changed and enhanced parts of it .
Most of the enhancements are as your vehicle is first going up at the VERY beginning right after you get on.
That portion is tied to the second portion as your vehicle goes backwards and exits the middle portion " The Planetarium " with the earth in orbit.

Not a problem. I rode Spaceship Earth myself TWICE in 2008, and Once in 2009.
It's really one of the ONLY RIDES in the whole EPCOT that reminds me of my first visit to EPCOT back in 1983.
