when i watched this in 87 I still tried to figure out if auther was real or a dream and the last song made me wonder if he was a spirit, a lad who had joined or already been killed in the war, an was just preparing her for life after death everytime he appeared, could any one comment on this please.

i think he was a real living boy in the story

but their relations was kind of spiritual/a dream

I feel that everyone should have one movie that brings tears to their eyes. This one... or specifically the last song on this part of the movie always brings tears to my eyes and spilling over.
