I love dos gringos but c'mon guys! you can't diss Navy pilots, especially about the carrier landings....no crosswind or flare...that's true but the 3 wire IS a moving target that happens to be a small one, not to mention when the deck is pitching...Dos gringos is just jealous!
@eclipse245 Just a hint, it's not real. Secondly the group is made up of F-16 pilots, the song was about landing on a carrier so putting their plane on a carrier seems apt doesn't it?
From what I hear from my Navy buddies, the real suck of a CVN is that you can get screwed out of shore leave a lot if the weather's bad. Since they have such a deep draught, they can't get too close to shore, and if the weather is being shitty, then they can't take out the launches, thus, no shore leave.
Navy Pilot: We're better than you, we make maore scarifices, and can land on boats!!!!
Air Force Pilot: Whatever.... *goes back to 4 star hotel and has a nice, proper cold beer, sees family again in a few weeks if he's singles or unfaithful, finds some chicks to fuck, while navy pilot get's stuck in the middle of nowhere with thousands of men
woah,,,,, cool, stil air force guys get the hotels and stuff, sounds like a more appealing life..... but hey, i havent served, what do i know. still, much respect for what u've done for ur country...... here in singapore, all of us guys have to serve 2 years, just like in israel,,,,, my enlistment dates coming in 2 years
and with those Superhornets and F-35's (when the 35's come out). the plane lands by itself so they can't brag anymore. well ok they kinda can because if auto pilot isn't working.
@Apocal43 too bad those chicks are either pretty damn unhomely unless you're wearing your boat goggles or have had a whole MEU or MEF's worth of dicks in their snatches already D:
Landing works "fine". Only way to take off from one is to land on it first though. There's no way to start a mission on deck.
To actually perform the landing, you need to be able to put the jet down where you want it first. Then make your approach, drop the hook (ctrl-k by default).
Don't flare, and force the nose down immediately (I usually start pushing the nose down just before contact). If you don't get the nose down, you won't stop.
Haha, are you serious? Oh wow crosswinds are so damnedh hard..I take it you've never flown a plane. If you have a problem flaring or landing in a crosswind you have no business in a cockpit...now landing on a tossing deck and grabbing a cable is an impressive feat.

ill have you know i have flown planes b4 dick head. i never said about the tossing deck so learn to read b4 you come to speak to me alright? ill admit that is quite hard to land on a tossing deck.take a look on this site for landings with crosswinds, even the best pilots have problems
Lol..or you could just fly off the handle..I'm not gonna argue with you, anyone of reasonable intelligence can see that carrier landings are generally harder than landing on a runway..which is all I said..and leave the name calling at your high school..

let me just apologise for the name calling it was pretty juvenile to say the least, and i just admitted that it would be hard to land on a tossing deck especially harrier pilots but you had to flog a dead horse, I wasnt pissed at that you didnt know me and said ive never flown a plane... do you know me? no you don't so dont waste your time and telling me I have no business in a cockpit, pull the other one mate you dont know me

NIce video ! BTW that's not how you fly a barrel roll... (0:15)
Wild409 2 years ago
Quite correct, but the lyrics also say "just like in top gun" and that didn't do a barrel roll either.
teejfalconaf 2 years ago
yes they did! can't remember when, but i think before goose dying he rolls off on a dual launch!

Usually it's only subs that hot-bunk, pilots on CVNs get their own racks, IIRC.

Actual cost estimate here:
It costs ten times as much to conduct a carrier-based sortie than it does to conduct one from a land base.
VigilanteAgumon 3 years ago
The USAF actually stopped trumping that number around awhile back, because it costs three times as much to launch a USAF sortie compared to a USMC.
The cost effectiveness argument only works when you're the most cost-effective :)
Apocal43 3 years ago 9
Maybe because the USMC doesnt bother to fix their planes so they dont spend the money per sortie on maint.

now we compare the payload of a F/A-18 to a BUFF. Cheers!

So what changed? Or was the number rubbish to begin with?
harlequin2262 1 day ago
Costs more because of how long it takes to train those thick-headed jarheads to do the simplest task ^^

Couldn't be original and had to post my vid from over there, eh.
teejfalconaf 4 years ago
I got this version of the vid emailed to me largely from the blue. There weren't any credits so I didn't list any, although I recognized the game.
If you want, I can take it down. I only wanted it for the song.

I'm...flattered...you stole my video from that other video site. Too bad I didn't make it more of a daytime rather than dusk shot.
