My Jump into Second Life

I played second life once, what's the point? I know it's sopose to be some sort of big thing but as for me it was lame. There's nothing to do! I think I'm just missing the point. Could someone explain it to me

Welcome to SL! :) Second life can be a pain in my furry butt sometimes...At times I have to just stand there waiting for my avy to rez and the surroundings too, It just feels like my computer is waiting for Second life all the time....Oh well, I will have furry fun reguardless of second lifes many um quirks? involuntary twitches? and the like lol

The teleport problem with the Mac OS port of Second Life has been cured not too long after I posted this vid. The only issue I'm having with SL is it starts to lag after being logged in from a long period of time. But re-logging usually fixes that.

When I'm in Wolf Valley, I'm in Spirit Wolf Island sky platform located in the NE corner of the SIM 700 meters up. Currently you will find me at the Empire of Things as I'm building very large Dance Club there. I'll be there for ahile since this is the largest build I've ever tackled.

SL costs nothing. The only time it costs is when you want to rent or purchase land. At this point you have to pay a monthly rental or maintenance tier depending if you go for land offered by Linden Labs or a private estate owner. You can also purchase additional linden dollars (in-world currency). But learning how to build your own avatars, objects, and buildings, and also where to get good freebies should keep that to a minimum.

Everyone wants to build there own avatars. It's harder than it sounds, and it sounds pretty darn hard. I myself have found KZK's products are enjoyable, and think that you might just find an avatar to your liking. I acknowledge that this is an old video, just figured you might like the tip. Hope your MAC problem is not giving TOO much trouble now. Mac, (I hear) Has a lot of issues with a LOT of games with high graphics. *Shrugs* But alas, that's just hearsay. I'm Raayven Teardrop on SL, btw.

Its really not hard to build avis as one may think. HoweverI will admit that its is a bit of a trick to do skin and clothing textures. However there are templates one can download which will help make texturing easier.

If you are talking about a way to make money or lindens in SL is to build a store, their are two common ways to do it. You can either create various objects, clothing, avatar parts, buildings, and sell them or an easier way to make money is to get some venders. The venter owners get a cut of the revenue but in return you don't have to do much work other than placing the venders in your store or land that you owned. If you make enough Lindens you can exchang it for real money via SL's website.

Basic Accounts are free. But you can't own land. Premium accounts were you can buy land are just under 10 dollars /mo. plus land maintenance fees that very depending on how much land you own.

i had to go back to the signup page a few times trying to get it to work with paypal, (it keeps saying "server issue".) anyways, keep clicking from "change first name" to "choose a last name" several times it said the name Fhang was not available with my first name, i thought it was created and not confirmed, but eventually it gave my name back.

i think it chooses a random set of last names each time i click on it.

Indeed, one has to select from a pool last names provided by Second Life. As for the Pay Pal issue I am unaware the Second Life accepts PayPal. I would recommend talking to a youtuber named Felinoid about get SL to work with PayPal as his knowledge of SL is far more extensive than mine.

There are two types of account. There is a free basic account and a premium account that costs a little over $5.00/mo, plus land maintenance fees if you buy land. The Basic account allows you to do everything in SL accept buying land and the fact the Basic account only has very limited tech support. However you can build in public sandboxes and joining groups the groups that allow you to build on their land.

SL to work on my laptop, but i still get graphics issues, sometimes glitch, i may pay that sim a visit one day when i azm not to busy.

I've learn its best not to run SL on a wireless connection. Packet losses caused by wirless connections tends to screw SL up big time.

I see ppl crashing on windows versions more than me, I think it's the amount of RAM or video card that makes for more crashes. For ref. I run a PPC Mac G5 with 2.5GB RAM and ATI RADEON 9600.
